They said they calibrated everything and gave me a certificate which does not have a break down of everything they did. Just establishes that they did and on which date. I reached out to them so we'll see if they make it right.

There is a different glass for cars with the rain sensor. Can you see the notch in the windshield masking for the rain sensor? There is a picture on another thread that shows that notch.

Not sure what notch you mean and have not been able to find a pic here that shows it. 🤷‍♂️

Sorry you're going through this. I recently went through windshield hell myself with Safelite, and the glass shop I was finally able to get to do the job right said that, among breaking stuff, Safelite hadn't bothered to plug the windshield wiper heaters back in. It was a two month mess.

What you're describing definitely sounds like an installation warranty issue. I'd complain for sure, but I'd make sure your insurance company is involved. They have ways of getting through the wall of ignored emails and no-humans-available call centers at Safelite.

Thanks. I assume this is the notch?

Yes. That is the rain sensor. The masking (the black around the sensors) is on the window glass and the notch must be there for the sensors to work. Some replacement windshields don't have the proper masking.

There is a clear rectangular gel pad between the sensor and the windshield. If it is in place correctly the area circled should be dark. He readjusted it and it is working now. When I got home I looked at it closer and it is not completely dark. So I might need to press it up against the windshield to get a better seal.
In and out in a few minutes, but only because I was chatting up with the tech before the the gal brought out the paperwork. She told me to just drop my keys and they would call. I said I was waiting for it. ”But it might be 4 o’clock before it is ready.”
Ok. Guess I will just stare at you awkwardly all day.
Then the tech told her he would check it out right now to see if it was a simple fix.

I had to get my windshield replaced twice by Safelite. I had a problem with the rain sensor not working and they determined that the mount for the rain sensor (glued on from windshield manufacture Fuyao) fell off. There is no way glue the mount back on, so the entire windshield had to be replaced.

I believe that the first technician broke the mount for the rain sensor during the install, because they are fragile.

The good news is that you can disable the rain sensor wipers and change them to regular intermittent wiper with Carista. The automatic rain sensor never worked how they were intended anyway.

Having the same issue ('22 XLE) after a new windshield was installed 3 weeks ago. It only started raining here in Calgary yesterday (after a 7-8 week drought) and I immediately noticed that rain sensing was inoperable. Called GlassMaster and the manager told me that after a new windshield is installed the sensing function is sometimes deactivated - and may need to be reactivated. A cursory search reveals not such activation functionality - at least in terms of what can be done w/o high level tools a shop may have. Maybe there is and I am not aware. Anyone know more about this? Anyway, the manager told me that if I can't sort it to come by the shop and they will get to the bottom of it.

Did they put in the right windshield? i.e. is there an aperture for the rain sensor to look through in the masking at the top?

I was able to figure out that when I press the rain sensor housing slightly up against the windshield, the technology immediately begins to work - albeit for a short time, probably the amount of time it takes for the adhesion to again separate itself from the windshield. What a drag.

Spoke to the shop manager and they will see me next Wednesday to diagnose.
