Hello! Nice forum you got here.

There I got an issue. Today, when replacing the battery on my wife 2007 I-4 Ravy I accidentally touched/moved an hose then the "T" connector breaks and spilled coolant. So I was in trouble, went to 'The Zone' and 'The Advance' and guys can't help. Toyota oem auto parts near home was closed due to work day holiday. So I bought an 5/8 universal fit "T" connector made for heater hoses and solved temporary but want an definitive oem (plastic, for real?) or aftermarket (billet, aluminium, brass, copper?) solution.

Here is the picture:

Thank you in advance!

It is nylon and a good choice for radiator hose connections.
Your repair is probably just right.

An alternative is this which I use sometimes mainly because our parts outfit always has them.

If you touched it and it broke, you are very lucky. It was about to break, and it would have happened on the road, at the most inopportune time.

I agree with pico. A plastic tee will work, but metal is better.

I do used one like that you posted, specifically this one.

Had to modify it, cut/trim one end of the "T" pipe so it fits one of the hoses (the one that go to the bottom, the same that was hurt) which is smaller in diameter than the other two which are 5/8". By the way: can't find a diagram of the cooling hoses flow to know where from/to those hoses goes...

Yeah I told that to my wife, better that happened on the garage driveway and not on a traffic jam for example... I told her if I had not touched maybe that part reached 70K miles and fails (actually have 69950 miles).

Will ask the OEM parts dealer/store if they know if some aftermarket manufacturer make that part in billet aluminium or something metal, and if it doesn't cause future issues on cooling system components if I replace plastic (nylon) with metal, you know...

Holy smokes, seems that I am the third person to break that T-connector while attempting to swap out the battery (2006 Rav4 in my case).

Was swapping in the parking lot of a local parts store. Hot coolant exploded everywhere.

Currently waiting on the correct T-connector (as listed above).

Curious - after rigging it up with the 5/8 T connector from the local shop I was able to drive it home. While driving though, I noticed severe shaking when stopped at stop sign/traffic light. Anyone know how this could be connected to the coolant issue? TIA

This just happened to me too! I saw it was leaking from the “T” a bit, went to try and tighten the clamps and it broke in my hand! Did you all have to replace the connected hoses as well or could you get the broken plastic connector arms out and salvage the hoses? Gonna try and order the oem parts today. Thanks!

All of this just happened to me. Did you ever find what caused the shaking?
