I too was impressed by the woodland edition. Cosmetically it is an eye-catcher all to do with the bronze Wheels you either like them or you don't. The suspension looked to my eyes like the trd.
But when I sat inside and noticed the all black cloth interior that was a dust fest waiting to happen. Also the infotainment screen was subpar in size. No options to speak of that I was aware of. No sunroof or moonroof. That's a nice feature to have when you're sitting in the car driving through the country and getting some light on your body. The car is a black hole on the inside. But that is just my two cents not here to offend anybody. That wasn't for me.

Thanks for the feedback and the great details! Yeah I really wish they at least give customers the option to add a few package options if so desired. Softex, heated seats, heated leather wrapped steering wheel would be nice.

I didn't know about the fit and finish build quality. I wonder if there's a noticeable difference between the LE, XLE trims vs. the higher XLE premium, XSE and Limited trims. I know when I test drove a used 2021 Rav4 Hybrid LE, I noticed the drive side mirror shake dramatically. I wanted to test the lane centering function but didn't really get a chance to. I heard it's not as good as the lane center/keep assist on the Hondas. But oh well... I guess not major deal breakers for some.

I read about the 1key FOB at the time of purchase. They said that Toyota would mail customer the 2nd key FOB at a later time. Is that not the case for you? Did the dealer ever mention that? No full size spare definitely sucks, especially given that there's space to accommodate a full size spare. Subaru Forester Wilderness offers a full size spare wheel of the exact spec.

Interesting to hear about the TRD tuned suspension and it being harsh/hard on normal pavement and asphalt roads? Is it harsh over potholes and imperfections in the road? Is it better on gravel trails or washboard roads? I do agree that the price point for the trim and the 6500 limited series are part of the appealing aspects.
I did finally get a FOB after 10 months and 14,000 miles, but it took some effort.

I found a video showing that a full size spare fits in the RAV4 so I'm in the process of making one.

I've gotten quite use to the ride and to answer the pothole question, it does very well going over potholes and railroad tracks. I've had the opportunity to drive dirt roads and it does okay on washboards, probably encourages me to drive too fast. However, it does not have large shock reserves so I don't know how well it would hold up driving washboards for multiple hours.

I've replaced the front speakers (there's some good youtube videos) which made the audio a bit more bearable. I also replaced the horns.

I've noticed on intestates going 75ish, with a roof box, milage is around 29 mpg.

I've been doing some car camping sleeping both inside and outside of the RAV4. One pleasant discovery with the hybrid is that I can run the A/C without running the engine. I've found this useful on some hot evenings.

Woodland owner here and I have had a fantastic 11 months with it. Rides well, looks great and easily beat the EPA numbers. I am averaging around 40 MPG vs the sticker of 38/35/37. It's taken me around town, on road trips and across rugged forest service roads.

Unlike some, I really like the feature set. I am in Texas so I don't need heated seats and I don't want a sunroof or leather seats. Black cloth is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Leather would be way too hot and sticky in summer. I also prefer the manual lift rear gate as it's faster and quieter than an automatic one.

It does have fog lights which are a big must have for me. The bronze rims have really grown on me. The Falken Wild Peak tires are great. Plenty good grip on forest service roads and ride well on pavement. I would easily get these again. The raised roof rails and rack are also nice to have and look good. The mats are also very nice.

I believe the suspension is TRD tuned of the standard hybrid parts. I find the ride good. Much smoother than my older vehicle. Probably not as smooth as a luxury vehicle. I would call the ride good. I have no issues on gravel or pavement. Compared to a Lexus NX it's probably not as smooth or quiet of a ride. But for anyone coming from an older vehicle it's gonna be a good ride and rather car like.

Overall the US version Woodland is a great package and a good price. It's simple and utilitarian. It's just what I want in a vehicle. Some may miss a few options. Luckily there are the Limited and the Venza if you want more upscale style.

Hello desert dust, I'm with you I don't really want or require all that electronic wizardry. Coming from a 2016 4Runner owner It appears most all new cars come with most of that stuff. The only thing that I really would like to have is the wireless charger for my phone. I can't stand getting all those cables caught up in my console area or have to even worry about them. Same here I don't need the electronic lift gate. I do like ventilated seats here in SoCal. If I could get a light-colored interior in the woodland edition I would but they only make it in Black. Glad to hear your your review As I am looking to get One in the next few months just not sure of the model yet.

One thing Toyota could do that would be great is offer more customization of options on a factory order. Then you could get a different interior fabric option. Personally I wish they offered more exterior paint options. I would have readily paid extra for a nice bright color. I really like the Toyota solar orange as an example. But overall I am quite happy with it.

I do think they updated the Woodland a bit for 2024 and there may be an option package. Check the website.

If have not seen the new Land Cruiser check it out too. Looks fantastic. Of course it's at least $20k more than a Woodland but seems to tick a lot of boxes.

Yeah I checked out the Land cruiser. Mpg is an issue.
Yeah woodland doesn't offer much in the interior options. That's what's keeping me away from it. I'm probably leaning toward a hybrid of a different model where I could get wireless phone charging sunroof and perhaps a bigger info screen.

Thanks for the review! I am particularly interested in the Falken Wildpeak tires myself, since I live in a snowy area and 2 miles off pavement. I was worried that they might cut mpg too much, but you seem to get about the same. I think these cars are very sensitive to the drivers foot, hence we all can get wildly different numbers. I get 34mpg/76mph and 45mpg/55mph.

Take a look at the nitto brand tires. They offer some pretty nice choices.

In avatar, NX 350h, my size is 235/60/18, not much from nitto. I might look at bridgestone weathergrip, if the price is right. Had it's firestone brother, new was half tread depth, wore fast, and lost all grip at half worn. Not worth anything to me, maybe I shouldn't be stupid enough to try it's brother??? 😄

I really like the Falken Wild Peak tires. Have been very nice for me on dirt and gravel with good traction. Have not had them on snow. These are not 3 peak rated.

Also no noticable road noise from them on highway. I have a Honda Element that is way worse for tire noise and my current Michelin Defenders are very noisy. So I think the Falken Wild Peak tires are nice and quiet.

Overall a great tire for the vehicle. Don't know how long they will last as I just have 11k miles but I like them enough that I would buy them again.

The Falken Wildpeaks that come OEM on the TRD and Wilderness are not the same as the Wildpeak sold at tire stores. You can get the OEM, but the "normal" Wildpeaks are 3 peak rated and have a slightly more aggressive tread and weigh more than OEM.
