I recently added an Xgauge PID to my scangauge for engine oil pressure ... It reads between 15 to 20 at idle hot . I'm currentlg running 0w20.

Does anyone know the specs for proper operating range for the A25A engines ?

I know these engines have a variable displacement oil pump but I'm just curious to know the proper specs so that I have something to compare my readings to
 
29 PSI or higher at 75÷85⁰C and 3000 RPM
That 29 PSI seems like it is low to me at 3K RPMs...though it does say "or higher." I used to see 40-50 PSI in 1.6 VW water-cooled engines at 3K-6K RPMs back in the 1980s when I had analog Stewart-Warner gauges. I was running straight 40W Valvoline Racing Oil.
 
The general rule for oil pressure troubleshooting used to be that you should have at least 10 psi per 1000 rpm. This not really a spec, but only says if you don’t reach that minimum psi you probably have oil pump and/or excessive engine wear issues.

This rule does not work for the Dynamic Force engine. It has variable displacement oil pump. The water pump and the fuel pump are also variable.
 
It's normal.
Should be:
12 PSI or higher at 75÷85⁰C and 1000÷2000 RPM

29 PSI or higher at 75÷85⁰C and 3000 RPM
Knowing what we now know about the recently discovered defects in the Denso YZZN1 oil filter, I wonder if all these oil pressure numbers are suspect and may have been somehow affected if a lemon filter had been installed on the test engine Toyota used to set these specs. IDK...I have not really thought it through.
 
For example, maybe a good Denso filter would actually have LOWER numbers because the oil is actually passing through the filter media. In contrast, if the test engine had a defective cracked and split open filter, or one with a large gap at the end between the filter media and center tube, or had some of the pleats actually open and un-glued...then perhaps the numbers would be HIGHER, because the oil is bypassing the filter. Again, I don't know.
