Any one use these hoses instead of the standard Rubber one's?

Are the Claims real "ilicon hoses are the perfect replacement for your stock rubber vacuum hoses, which are prone to cracking, splitting and leaking. Prevent hard-to-find vacuum leaks and upgrade your vacuum lines with these attractive hoses, made out of high-temp silicone that can endure the rigors of the under hood environment.

-Withstands Temperature From -40F to 500F

-Resistant To UV, Water, OZone, Oxygen, and Oil and With Smooth Wipe Finish."

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

OEM hoses are not fully rubber, and in normal circumstances do their job fine and last very long.
Silicone might do this trick better, but i am not sure about it. Having seen such claims in the field of LEDs (where the actual leds where inferiour quality most of the time) and other stuff claiming a much better lasting quality, i am hesitant to believing this.

It's hard to say if this silicone indeed is the quality claimed by the maker. That would have to be tested by someone very well known in this field of expertise, which i am not.
If you found to have cracks with your current lines, you might want to try it. I think however that with the rigorous testing done on cars that the quality of the vacuum lines are very high, thus not easily being topped. And as for e-bay sellers, i truly doubt their quality because those are not used by well known brands yet, and for a reason.
So all in all i do not know, but for myself would not do it.

Pim,

I am critical of ebay stuff, especially plain white label stuff. I share some of your thoughts.
After further research online; i've noticed that many High Performance Turbo'd cars use silicone hoses throughout. I'm assuming there must be an advantage over the stock hoses??? Don't know this for a fact, but just assuming. Of course a stock Rav4 is not a racing machine, but if this hose is superior to stock hose, and adds a little flair to the engine bay, then it couldn't hurt.
I have found a couple of sellers that have been recommend online in a few places:
Pure Silicone Vacuum Hose : BoostController.com LLC - America's Source for High quality turbo boost controllers, silicone hose, and more performance products - 877-836-6155- precision boost control. Turbosmart Warehouse Distributor
HoseTechniques Silicone Turbo Hose, Buy Direct from Manufacturer, Best Quality / Best Price - Hose Techniques established 1983 - Quality, Performance, Style

I think I will definitely try this in the future, once i figure out the lengths and sizes i will need, of course will post results once done.

Silicone hoses do the exact same thing as regular rubber hoses, with one exception. They will never crack, get brittle, and so forth. They are a permanent hose replacement.

At the shop I work at, we only use silicone hoses as a replacement. Keeps the customer from coming back down the road for the same vacuum issue. The hose itself cost our shop about $5 a foot. We stock it an I use a little just about every day. Its worth doing, but I reccomend NOT replacing every single hose with the stuff, that would be just a pure waste of your money.
