We listen to audio books allot on our CD/radio player. The other day, it started giving me a problem by not ejecting the discs. I played around with it for hours. and finally it ejected four of the six discs. Now it shows "no discs]. How can I manually eject the discs? Or, if I have to, how can I look inside this machine to see what is what? Electronic gizmos are great when they work. Appreciate and tips. Hopefully someone who has had a similar problem will read this and give me a heads up. Thank you.

Good news / bad news. Thank you for the suggestion. After disconning the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting same, the player did recognize the two discs. Howevermthey would not eject. After touching the eject button, the eject light was flashing, but would not eject the discs; either of them. After one try for each disc, the player no longer will recognize the discs, either of them.

Have you tried loading a scratched CD / Blank CD (something you don't mind losing) so see if it does somehow help the other CDs to come out?
Otherwise a screw driver might be your best friend to take unit out and dismantle. Are you planning to get rid of the player or fixing it?

Do the disks in question have stick-on labels attached?.

I learned several cars ago, to never use these labels on disks which will be played in the car player. The labels tend to lift up when warmed up, and they get caught when you try to eject the disk.

If this is what's happening in your case, you can try to repeatedly play and eject the disks, and if your lucky the disk will be ejected on the side that the label is still stuck down tight. You might also be able to use a knife blade to flatten the label if it gets anywhere close to the loading slot.

Np stick on labels. Tried inserting and ejecting more CDa. These ejected OK, the stuck ones remain stuck/ I plan on keeping my player

You can find a replacement head unit on Ebay. There are plenty available usually a lot cheaper than a repair would cost. Some of them are way overpriced, and some are very low. You might even get lucky like me and get a later one that has XM satellite built in for $50! Make sure you look at the pictures carefully. You want the one that has the LOAD button on it--that's only the 6-disc changer.

Latest!! My stuck disc #5 ejected. Now #5 is the only holdout. Not sure the player is defective as other discs I put in are working fine. I have noticed it takes longer to eject than normal. I am going to a go at it again this morning

OK!!! The #5 is ejected. There is no apparent damage to the disc. Until I know where the problem is, I will load and play only one disc at a time. Now, replacing the head was mentioned. Do you think I should proceed with that? Is there a trouble shooting procedure for the player? and instructions on repairing same? Thanks.

Glad to hear it finally released its last hostage! If you can get by with one disc, then just leave it. Sounds like the motor driving the disc change mechanism is either slipping or the mechanism itself it binding. Could be a matter of a little lubrication in the right spots.

There is no troubleshooting procedures or service manual for these units available to the general public as far as I know. Some of them are made by Fujitsu Ten and some by Panasonic. Toyota doesn't repair them, but they do get refurbished units from somewhere.

Many Thanks

Thanks to: June Bug, Vanib, Ricki, and Swiss for your replies and tips. I really appreciate your jumping in to my aid. Hopefully , my troubles are over as far as the player is concerned. However, I doubt it. To bad things do not last long anymore.
