I need to replace the oxygen sensor. I read somewhere that if you replace one you should replace both as there is an upstream and a downstream sensor and that if one goes the other one goes soon after. Should I replace them new or find
used ones.

I've never heard of replacing both the upstream and downstream sensors if only one fails. I had a downstream sensor fail earlier this year, replaced it on my own, and haven't seen a further problem.

Stick with buying an OEM grade new sensor. Denso is the OEM brand, but Bosch I hear is also good. They'll probably run you about $120 to buy new and install yourself, or about $180 to replace at a shop.
