Before anyone’s warranty is up, if you have a 2019 RAV4 check your headliner for light bluish marks, if you have this, that means your roof racks aren’t properly sealed and water is leaking inside your car!!!! I just hade my passenger side rails resealed and headliner replaced❤

There are a few reports regarding the leakage:

I just had this problem on my 2020 Rav4 With sunroof. The dealer unclogged the sunroof drain and sent me away but took it to the car wash at the dealer to test it and bingo, water again. The dealer has the car now and they said they have to open it up to find the problem. Will update after they return the car.

From the dates of various postings and vehicle years, it seems to be right in that 1.5-2yr mark where it will begin to leak. I opened a case with TMS-USA, this seems to be more of a safety issue due to the water can impact the pillar airbag and wiring. The leaking issue should have been a Recall last year, to either fully fix the leaked vehicles, and to fix those that did not leak yet.

I found the following link which has a few pictures illustrating the leak and what the clips looks like. There are a few other pictures that horrified me.

I made multiple trips to dealership and they always insisted it is dirt in the sunroof drain pipes but after each "cleaning" the leak appeared again! They said I had acorns in the drain pipes :) . Funny once I went to them on Monday and they said it is fixed but on Wednesday morning I notice the leak again. I have contacted corporate and they just said that there is no recalls and contact dealer again. If that wasn't be for that forum I probably will think it is something I do wrong. I am schedule to see them again in a week. I will show them pictures and lets see what they can do. Hopefully they can also replace headliner as it already has stains and worst finger prints.... Hopefully Toyota admins the issue before it cause some accident or fire.

Sadly I had my windshield replace by safelite and now Toyota is telling me the leak is my windshield! So no warranty! I took it to Safelite twice, blaming them for the leak-I had them installed my windshield twice and is still leaking! After reading all these posts I’m sure is a defect with Toyota! I’m going to speak to the director of service and if not, I’m going to court!

Sounds like a plan! It looks like your leaks are located similar to those that were found in my 2019 Adventure; but, the big difference is that I was fortunate enough to have a dealer that was willing to address the issue. I would be persistent and approach it as a "safety issue", expressing concern that the airbag could be compromised. I would also question how the stains above the passenger door could be related to a windshield replacement. IMO, it might be time to find a new dealership, even if it means driving a few miles. I would be reluctant to give this dealership any more business.

According to affiniti81 (who works on the RAV4 assembly line), this was a known issue in the early 2019's, so shouldn't be an issue in the 2020's. I've had no further issues with leaks since my roof rails were replaced, under warranty, on my 2019 Adventure. Here is the link to affiniti81's reply (post #7):

Well I’m joining the group I’ve been back and forth to the dealership because of water pooling in the passenger side (quite a large amount) and it turns out I was looking in all the wrong places felt the headliner today and it was sopping wet. Heading to the dealership in a few days so fingers crossed. I have a 2019 XLE if anyone is wondering.

I think the same comes to service department. My car still have the issue after multiple attempts to fix. I have open lemon case with them.

I have brought the car back to them for the 8th time and now presumably a regional Toyota service person had found the issue. They said roof racks need replacement. Car is in the service for a week now.
Even thought that this type of the issue might be one in the million it still makes me rethink if Toyota is worth my business because theirs service and troubleshooting is abysmal. It doesn't help them that with the lemon return they stopped replacement because of covid and allowing only buy backs.

A new gen vehicle should bring with a wealth of previous data & design experience from all previous versions, so to go from non-noisy mirrors to horribly noisy mirrors makes no sense to me.

It's a few days away from year 2021, and Toyota has been doing vehicles for a very long time, so I see no excuse for a leaking roof from roof rails, or super noisy mirrors. All of a sudden Toyota fails to seal roof rack joints and/or fails to quality check it in terms of mass-produced-JIT-line-production ??

And there should be a quality diff between a base model Rav4 and their Limited model, but from what I can see, not really.

Something is off, way off.

Understand your frustration. Have you went to the dealer to have them perform T-SB-00tsb79-20 on the mirrors ?

What was your previous vehicle ? May be an adjustment period to a CUV like the RAV4 as indicated by Ruthrj, though the rail issue was a defect that should not have occurred.

Seems many vehicles are having issues. Cruise over to the CRV forum. :)

Did you have any issues getting them to replace your headliner? My dealership says they are just going to clean it.....
