Just picked up my car last night, and I have my dealership stumped.

They signed me up for Entune, and the Toyota app. Everything looks good on the backend, at least on their computers. When I open the app, I see a picture of my RAV, and it shows the right VIN, but I don't see any information such as the odometer, or fuel level. Also, the Remote Start feature says "Activation Required", and it sends me a confirmation e-mail.

But when we get into the car and press "Menu" then "Apps", the page is blank. There's no option for "Communications" as the e-mail describes. There used to be an "Updates" button on that screen, but it always said "Connection Unavailable", and now the button isn't even showing up.

I can go into the main settings page, and there's a "Check for Updates" button there, but same thing; it just says "Connection Unavailable".

I've made sure that Entune is connected via Bluetooth during this process.

The dealership (and the e-mail) said I can press the SOS button for troubleshooting. But when I try, it just tells me "Unable to connect to Emergency Call Center. Trying again" (like 5 times before it stops).

The dealership is stumped. The service center has an appointment set up for me, but even the service supervisor that set the appointment up was scratching his head while I explained the issue.

Is there anything the community can suggest I try myself, before I take it in next week?

Most 2020 owners are affected with this, Toyota app and Connected services work fine for MY2019 owners, so it's a problem specific to most MY2020 vehicles and the telemetrics system, there are a dozen or so discussions on the same problem.

I don't believe so. On that post, I get the impression that their infotainment features connect to Toyota's backend, but just doesn't update.

I'm having an issue where my whole car says it can't connect to anything. Not only infotainment, but the SOS button.

OP, my 2020 was doing the same thing. I got into the battery box in the trunk and disconnected the negative cable for about half an hour. Once I reconnected it, I let the radio initialize and went through the authorization process and it worked flawlessly. No need for a trip to the dealer, all you need is a 10mm wrench.

How long has this fix worked for you? In other words, is this a "permanent" fix or does the problem return in a couple of days? I don't want to go through the hassle of resetting preferences etc. if this is not a long-term fix.

OP here. Just got back from the dealer. Their permanent fix was identical to the user you responded to.

The dealership said they seemed to have interrupted the update when they first got it on the lot and did their quality check, because there were some error codes specific to pre-ownership that they saw today. Since the update was interrupted, it never finished, and it wouldn't let us try again. They said they disconnected the battery for 30 min, which forced the multimedia system to do a factory-reset, and restarted the update process.

Now I'm all hooked up to the app and SOS.

I got it working initially and it report mileage and gas level once but now I have this problem and got bumped to "level 2." The call-back person said it's a known problem and that they are working on it and he called back a second time and said the same.

He did say a temporary fix was to disconnect the 12-volt for 10 minutes but I'm hesitant both the thought of screwing up my brand new car and the fact I have to re-initialize everything including the hatchback door.
Thinking it would be temporary make me not want to bother but ...

But if it's a permanent fix then it's more tempting to try it.

Anybody try it AND then saw it happen again?

As an added bonus to fixing my connection issue, disconnecting the battery for a while also fixed my malfunctioning wireless charging unit. It had been giving the one orange blink per second code which is “vehicle to charging unit error, please contact dealer” issue.

Low and behold it started working one day last week and has been working ever since.

I believe this "fix" is required. I am waiting till things get back to normal before calling to have it installed.
This is a revised TSP. I'm glad that I waited before letting the dealer attempt the update. I understand that the first firmware update process did not go well for some.

On my 2020 that I picked up in February I had the same issue. The dealership disconnected the battery and it started to work. Last week I noticed the red light was back on the SOS indicator. I scheduled for them to look at it again. I'm going to try the battery trick again. On my wife's 2019 it works perfect...
