I need to swap out the 2GR-FE in my 2007 rav4 that recently locked up. In looking at junk yards, it appears that this engine was used for many years and quite a few vehicles (rav4, camry, avalon, es350, rx350, highlanders, probably others). If the vehicle is front or 4x4 and is mounted side ways, will it work? Specifically I found a 2014 Avalon locally with low miles but can't seem to find a definitive fitment. Your help is appreciated!

Is this at a wrecker? They would be able to confirm compatibility for you. If not at a wrecker, you may want to call one.

Alternatively, you can check the LKQ website as they sometimes list what vehicle the part is from, and if you’ve entered your vehicle information before searching, it should tell you.

I swapped mine out with a '12 from a sienna. Sensor and connector wise, they are all identical. Even a Lotus 2GRFE is identical, find a low mileage +09 motor with service records if you can find one (I did) and snag it. I was able to sell off parts I didn't need to help reduce overall cost. I'd also replacing all gaskets while it's out, there is a gasket kit you can buy - recommend oem only gaskets.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to grab the low mileage Avalon 2gfre and give it a go. Looking at the pictures it looks identical in every way, unlike some of the RWD Lexus models that look like I'd have to swap a bunch of parts out on.
