Tested with my 2020 XLE basic - gas version.
You can see this one is the XLE version below, which did not come with the sensors.

The placements of the sensors are the same as the factory one. When removed the rear bumper, there are sensor location marked, the set of the parking aid comes with a drill that can drill the exact the same size holes for the factory sensors.

The image below is take place in the front windshield glass. There is a land centering module, when removed the cover. It would be shown the same thing as below. There is a wire harness provided the the set and easily remove the factory one and plug in this harness. There is CAN, power source. All the thing will come from this wire harness to the parking aid module, which I installed on the passenger side. Will take picture later.

Images below showing the factory setting/ sensor display screens. Expect the same as factory. You can also turn off the parking aid on the se

Will post more details soon.

Continue. Sorry for the darkness.

Below two images will show the details of the sensor s in the front bumper. Two of them are installed on the factory marked location. However, because I did not replace the grill, so I drilled two holes for the sensors beside the license plate.

you have the choice to replace the grill with a Limited one. They are all the same. With the limited grill, there is no needed to drill holes on the bumper of the license plate.

image below is located on the passenger side after removing the glove box. There is a place to put this ECU after wired behind the rear view mirror. Then it will separate with two wire harness, one for the front bumper sensors and one for the rear bumper sensors.

The ECU park number is 89340. It costs more if purchase separately.

the installation will need to remove both front and rear bumpers.

@Louis hong - trying to do this (by the way all the mods you did are super awesome).

did you end up using this kit that you posted - https://www.taobao.com/list/item/wap/617138891211.htm. It looks like that kit comes with everything needed if you pick the option with the 8 sensors?

You mentioned it was about 800$ in a different thread but that kit on taobao looks like it has everything needed for only about 250$ - what was the rest of the $?

Or did you order factory parts? (It looks like that would be closer to 2000$ though - maybe I’m looking at it wrong but 8 sensors at ~200 each plus the parking computer at ~300)

So based on this diagram

I think I'd need one of these computers, but I'm not sure which one.

COMPUTER ASSEMBLY, CLEARANCE WARNING
Part Number: 8934042100
Supersession(s): 89340-42100
AXAP54..XSE
AXAP54..SE
CLEARANCE & BACK SONAR-WITH(PARKING SUPPORT BRAKE & *RCTB),*614

Parking Aid Control Module
Part Number: 8934042090
Supersession(s): 89340-42090
AXAP54..USA
CLEARANCE & BACK SONAR-WITH & WITH(*RCTA),*614

I think I would want the first one, since it has brake support? not sure what it'll do with the RCTA support though.

But the photo in the taobao kit already includes the computer (but that's also a different model - 89340-0r090). -- on the other hand, i can't find the model 89340-0r090 number online at all with google, so i've no clue what's going on.

I guess i could just buy the OEM sensors, but that'll be like.. 1600$ for all of them :(

find it overseas with Customized wire harness, otherwise You cannnot find it here.
Factory ECU is too expensive here.
The set you sent me could be an alternative.

Louis,

Do you know if that same kit would work with a 2022 Prime SE? I’m really hoping to add parking sensors to mine.

I’m a total newbie when it comes to modding cars so I could use some more direction on how to remove the bumpers and actually get the wiring to all the right places.

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks!

I was able to get a kit off of Ebay that matched pretty close.
The seller messaged me about year, features and color. I haven't installed it yet as I have another item I want to add when I drop the bumper covers.

It's not the exact same kit as Louis' but pretty close as far as features and install. I'll keep you updated when I get it installed.

Cheers

I'm not Louis but to answer your questions:
1). you don't have to cut the firewall grommet, you can push it through at an edge and then reposition it to get a better seal. Use a small piece of rubber edge trim or hose to keep the metal from cutting the wires.
2). I believe that these kits are run inside the vehicle along the door sills, I will be running mine this way with a cut in a blank grommet in the cargo area and re-sealed with silicone.

Cheers,

Did anyone actually finish adding the parking assist kits and are they fully functional ? Does the auto brakeing feature work and are there any glitches ? I see several posters showing kits that are available outside of the US but, I haven’t seen any finished projects showing the functioning of the system and it’s compatibility with the cambus of the rav4 system. This is a fairly big project that I would like to install on a 23 hybrid XLE premium and would like to see if anyone has a fully functioning system they have installed without problems before cutting holes in the bumpers and tearing the car apart. There is no economic way of turning back once the bumpers are cut other than leaving the sensors in place, if the add on sensor system doesn’t fully work like the factory installed system. Thanks for any updates .

I've had this project done for several months and the sensors are able to be turned on and off in the dash screen and show up in the radio screen. I'm not sure about the auto braking feature, I try not to make it a point to run into objects to "test" a feature. The one drawback with an aftermarket system is that there isn't a way to calibrate the system like the factory one. It is true that is an permanent install and can't be undone, so if you sell the car you have to sell the sensor package with it or explain the holes and caps. Over all I'm happy with the way that it turned out and functionality that it adds.

Cheers.

This is the one. Install was pretty straight forward and so far it has been working just fine. My only complaint is that you are not able to calibrate the sensors as far as adjusting sensitivity or the distance per sensor. Between the cameras and the sensors I really cant complain. Also one note: get yourself a package of 3m 4298 adhesive promoter sponges from amazon, the few wipes that they give are not enough and the 3m ones are much better.

If you are mechanically inclined and have done any body work this kit can be installed by the owner. If you are not tech savvy as you have stated but, have the above abilities then you can still install it but, you will need some help in setting it up . This site or the seller of the kit will assist you for this. Keep in mind that once you drill the holes for the sensor install they are there for ever so, you need to be ready to go through the install until the end. Also be mindful that while it’s unlikely there will be any electrical issues that pop up , if there are the warranty coverage could be denied by toyota. I debated installing one of the aftermarket kits and I’ve done major body and mechanical repirs but ,I declined as the kits are not oem an I just didn’t want any issues on a brand new car. It’s tough to buy a new car and get what you want now and it’s tempting to add on these features but, I’m a believer that buy what you want up front or ,wait till you can get it or ,wait till the warranty is up then install aftermarket products that require body surgery to the car. If there is a total aftermarket kit that has every feature that the factory one has then I’m all in but as many have said on this and other sites these kits don’t have auto braking or ,go off when it rains or ,don’t have sensitivity that can be monitored or adjusted through the screen. It’s your car and your choice so, do what you feel is best for you.
