Anybody try the Naviks Android Auto integration?

I have a 2018 RAV Hybrid Limited with the JBL and 360 bird's eye camera. I'd love to have Android Auto in the car, but I'd rather stick with the factory JBL head unit over an aftermarket unit if possible. Anyone have any luck with one of these Naviks adapters?

I was interested in doing this too. I hesitated because the resolution in the Beat-Sonic one is limited to the backup camera screen resolution, which is really poor. The carplay/Android Auto screens looked pretty blurry in the videos I could find on youtube. I'd be interested to see if the Naviks is any better.

I think its worth to check out some aftermarket headunitsf like kenwood, JVC, etc, or check out aliexpress or amazon for really great headunits with support for both jbl and 360 camera, like Teyes CC3 or Dasaita MAX10. I myself have the dasaita. of course you can run AndriodAuto or Carplay on both..

I have it. Got it about a month ago, and it’s working great! I have the Platinum trim with the 360° camera and it still works, as does the backup camera! Cost me $925 but it was worth it for me, it even has wireless CarPlay, with wireless AA coming later.

I finally got my Naviks installed today and it's mostly working ok, but the birds eye camera is not working right in all cases. Sometimes when I shift into reverse, the camera settings are not what I left them at. When I'm in the camera view, and change the settings, it seems like the screen touches are being registered by Android Auto. For example, when clicking the one camera setting, I hear the Google voice sound in response. It's like the camera screen and Android Auto are cross wired. I'm wondering if one of the jumper settings on the Naviks might not be correct. Did you have any similar issues?

It's still working perfectly for me! Best decision I made getting this; it wasn't cheap, I'll grant, but it was worth every penny!

As for installation, I didn't do it. I live in Manhattan, so I just drove to Brooklyn where they are and they installed it while I waited, hence the extra $500. I'll gladly pay to have it done, as I don't know about installing car stereos.

Update after a couple months. So the touch screen for Android Auto is definitely cross wired with the birds eye camera. Honestly, it's not that big a deal. If I'm going into reverse and the camera is not at the setting I like it, I just tap the screen a couple times and it's back to the setting I prefer. There are a couple other annoying things to be aware of. 1, the audio from Android Auto plays through the Aux input on the RAV4. That makes sense, but if you want say Google maps and regular FM radio and you receive a call, you can't hear the caller because the phone call is coming through Aux. 2, there's no night time integration for Android Auto. The screen will dim after dark, but it won't go into dark mode automatically.

So bottom line, the Naviks system works, but it's certainly not a seamless experience like a car that has Android Auto from the factory. I can live with most of these imperfections, so I'm not going to remove it or anything. But since it's primarily my wife's car, and she's a bit less tolerant of these annoyances, I probably would not have gone this route if I knew of these issues ahead of time. Hopefully, food for thought for anyone else considering this install.

You keep all of that. You can swap back and forth between the normal features on the JBL head unit and the Naviks Android Auto or Apple Carplay by pressing and holding the phone hangup button on your steering wheel controls. When you're on the normal head unit, everything is like it was before with the one little caveat of the birds eye camera view sometimes not being in the last used view.

I just installed mine on a 2019 Highlander Platinum with the 360 camera. Installation instructions were a little lacking because there are two identical wiring harnesses on the video unit under the passenger seat and I could not find any direction which one to use. I use the one farther aft and it seems to be working.

I got exactly what I expected, although they are not selling it with phone mirroring, something I had hoped for. The person I spoke with said that he did not believe I would be happy with it even if they sold it because the resolution is so low on the built-in JVC system that they have stopped marketing the component.

I had a little bit of trouble initially getting sound to work, but that is resolved by changing the mode to auxiliary. I had it on Bluetooth.

I still will experiment to see if I can find a way to record video from my 360 view because that would be a phenomenal dash cam solution. I am pleased with what I have.
