I have had my RAV4 hybrid XLE Premium since May 10. I got into it today and put it in reverse and the display for the back up camera was significantly different. It started out with a dark background banner across the bottom telling me to check my surroundings. Maybe it was doing that before, but it really jumped out at me, so I don't think so, at least not in those colors. I touched the banner and it changed the camera angle view. I don't recall having any options before for camera angle. As far as I know, before today I had one camera angle view and the red, yellow, and blue lines. I'm seeing part of the license plate in both camera views, and don't recall that before. Maybe it was like that and I didn't notice. Besides what I think is a change to having two camera angle views, it no longer displays the original set of blue, yellow and red lines. For the default it shows a single red horizontal line, the yellow lines like before, and a dotted green line down the center. There are three other options I can switch between by touching an icon in the lower right of the screen. 1) A single red horizontal line, 2) the red horizontal line with two blue outside vertical lines, a large blue X in the middle, and a short center blue line, 3) the red horizontal line with the original yellow lines and a short blue center vertical line. It's possible that I had options before and didn't notice. So far I've not found anything in the manuals about the back up camera. However, I do know that the display of the lines has definitely changed, since I can't get the original set of lines back. The changes feel positive or neutral to me, but it was a big surprise. I did not initiate a software update. I didn't receive any notifications of any changes. Anyone know how this changed all of the sudden?

I had a similar problem today. What I assumed was the standard / default setting for the backup camera had changed, with a 3 button tool bar at the bottom of the screen and a camera perspective that included my license plate and the top of my rear bumper. This was different. Did you get a response to your post or solve it on your own?

I did not get a response. The behavior stayed changed, but there are icons I can touch in the lower left (I think, could be one is on the lower right-I haven't changed anything in a while) to change the camera view and the types of lines that display. I'm Ok with it now. I have the line options set to one that works for me, and one of the camera views is good for me.

Hmmmm? There's nothing in the manual that I could locate that references the back-up camera and a search of the forum got me nothing but your post. This must not be a common occurrence. I will bring it up with the dealer if I get in before my warranty expires. Otherwise I'll learn to live with it, as you have.

I have recently noticed one thing in my 2021 RAV4 XLE backup display that I don’t ever recall seeing, my license plate. But I certainly wish it had the same type of display that our 2024 Prius Prime has, showing the angle of the steering wheel and the current path of the vehicle. (I tried to get a RAV4 Prime when I got my XLE, but at the time they were unobtainable)
