Hi Guys,

Can anyone suggest any good alternative for brake pads and rotors for 2009 RAV4? Do you really need to buy OEM parts or any other one is good enough? There are so many cheap alternatives on e-bay that I am starting to think do I really need an OEM parts? Any suggestions?

My experience has been: I stick with OEM and I haven't had any problems with noise, warped rotors etc.

How many miles have you put on it?
How do you know you really need rotors?

 

I did not like the OEM pads. They always made a rubbing noise when cold.

I changed my pads to Stoptech Street Performance pads with Centric double disc ground rotors. It stops way better and does not fade like OEM.

Got my pads and rotors from Rock Auto. I think I got Akebono pads and Centric rotors. They are fantastic. There's really no need to go with overpriced Toyota pads and rotors. Mine were slightly cheaper than OEM and are considered performance pads/rotors. But Rock Auto has a ton of good pads/rotors for cheap.

 

the pads/shims/rotors were replaced to some cheap aftermarket brand when I bought my used rav4 (great milage tho). Now Im in process of buying and installing toyota oem parts starting with the pads/shim.
