I only learned about this last week and did see a video showing the thieves access the can-bus near the L/H headlight. Coincidently my RAV4 is booked for service soon. I asked about this issue and was offered a security plate installation for a ÂŁ70 charge. I'll get it done but think Toyota are being a bit mean.
I agree, I have a Rav4 2020 bought new, 4 years doing the service with them, why nobody told me anything before?
I needed to get my car checkout, after being stolen and retrieved by myself to came across with this protection?

CAN Bus attack discussed here multiple times and it can be prevented by CAN/LIN immobilizer. But recently I've read a forum here (2022 RAV4 stolen) where Toyota UK bulletin WB853 was mentioned and special shields( part GBNGABRACK01) get installed to block access to CAN Bus through headlights.
Is anyone familiar with it?
Also I have a questions : What is this bulletin WB853 about? Where to get this kit GBNGABRACK01 in North America (or shipped to North America)?

p.s. My car has an immobilizer plus some other surprises but it would be nice to prevent folks to get into car.
p.p.s. This kind of shields can be easy made, but why to bother if you can buy it
Did you find where you can get it in the States? I'm in Jamaica and I would like to buy one as well.

I've yet to establish this information. I should know when the work has been carried out by the dealer. I will look to see what the dealer has done and where the plate is. When I know the part number, I will post it here. Information relating to this issue does seem sparse.

Looking at the YouTube security camera footage of these car thefts, this is worrying and I think I'll have to fit a Disclock type setting wheel deterrent, if only for my piece of mind.
Any update on the part number?

Watch out! The Miller fitment chart may not be accurate. They say this plate is for cars with auto-leveling and adaptive headlights. Most of the RAV trim levels from 2019-2021 did not have them Yet the chart says the plates are for the 2021 XLE. I can confirm my '21 gas model XLE does NOT have such adaptive headlights. I have not looked to see if I have a headlight module that looks like the one in their pictures.
And none of the Canadian versions have adaptive lights or self-levelling.

Not sure what CanBus is. From reading this forum, am I correct that vehicles WITHOUT adaptive headlights or self-levelling headlights NOT have a CanBus? In Canada, none of the 5th gen Rav4s have adaptive headlights or self-levelling headlights.

Is this an official Toyota part, because I can't find it anywhere? Was anyone able to purchase it online?

I got a tracker and immobilizer installed a couple of days ago. The person that dealt with me says there is something else known as “the vault”. He said it prevents the door from opening, no matter what they do. The only way they can get in is to break the window. Has anyone ever heard of this device?
