why? The whole reason the ac kicks on with the defrost is to take the moisture out of the air and defog the windows quickly. If you have a limited this will not be easy with the auto ac. On the others it might be possible by finding the electric switch the turns on the ac when you turn the knob. It might be at the knob or on the ac vent box.

But forget trying to mess with the defrost function. AS mentioned above there is a reason the A/C is integrated in the defrost function.

 

Depends on which model you have. On the Limited it IS easy to get rid of the defroster-linked A/C, but the dealer has to do it. I had this done, since I don't often find that I need A/C and prefer that it default to off.

On a base or Sport it may be more tricky, as noted above.
