Delivery Estimate / Tracking?

I recently put a $500.00 deposit down on a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid SE (03/08). I was given the VIN from my dealer the same day and I found out that it was not a temporary VIN, which is good news I guess! The dealer estimated that the vehicle would be here (MD) best case scenario - the end of March, worst case scenario - the middle of April. I added the VIN to my Toyota Account and I can see that the build date was 02/2022. I've also been using the Inspect Elements hacks to track it every day.

So far, my vehicle is still in category "A." I've used this same method to track other vehicles that are in transit on my dealer's website. I tracked a few of them that are also coming from Japan, and they all have ETA dates within the next week or so. However, when I check the build date of these cars, they're about one or two months before the build date of my vehicle. This is a little alarming to me as I was told it would only be about a month or so from the date of my deposit, but I'm seeing that these other vehicles had a wait time of 2-3 months. I have not had any contact with my dealer since the date of the deposit, do you think I should be reaching out more often?? I'm not trying to annoy him !

This is my first Toyota purchase ever and I am beyond excited!!!! I'm finally getting rid of my 2008 Honda Accord, so the wait is making me very, very anxious !!!!

Is anyone else currently waiting for their vehicle with a build date of 02/2022? I'm in MD, so anyone with some east coast knowledge on this process would be super helpful!

If your really interested, it sounds like you are, call the dealer and ask for the shipping date. They should tell you when it left the port. There is a thread here that tracks all the RoRo boats. Match the date it left the port with the boat that left the port. Then you can track the boat through numerous boat tracking sites. My prime is leaving Vancouver B.C tonight and arriving at the port in Portland Oregon tomorrow…
Fee free to ask more if you need guidance.

I just talked to my dealer, he said that in his "25 years of selling cars," he's never heard of anything that shows him the name of the vessel in which the vehicle is being shipped on. Although, he did tell me that he was able to see that my car was loaded onto the ship! He says he's not able to see when it was loaded or what ship it's on, but at least I know it's finally in transit!!

I'm hoping ours are on the same ship since they're both SE built in 2022 and both heading to MD!!!! (Idk if that actually means anything lmao). I added my VIN to my Toyota Account and I was able to see that it was built 02/2022. Did you try doing that? You can also track the categories from "A" to "G" using the Toyota Details link. If yours was also built in 02/2022, I'm hoping ours are on the same vessel !!!

Sounds like a similar question I posed a couple of days ago though I live in CA. For what it's worth I talked to the sales manager at the dealership. He looked up the ETA tracking system (emailed me a copy of the report) and mentioned that car arrived at the port (Long Beach, CA) on 3/21 and is still being processed at the port. No estimate of ETA at tge dealership though dealer thinks around mid-April. I sure hope there is no big backlog at the port as last year!

I originally paid a $1000 non-refundable deposit on a R4P XSE with $3000 markup, but I ended up abandoning that order after I got a call from another dealership saying they had an exact same build arrive a month later at MSRP. I lost my $1000 deposit, but I'm still saving $2k by not paying a markup. Just had to wait an extra month.

My dealer has verbally promised MSRP, though when I started with them, most dealers were still at MSRP. I put $500 refundable down already 8 months ago. I think they will keep their promise. They are a very large dealer here in the KC area and in conversation, they stated that they felt any temporary gains made by going over MSRP would be lost in customer loyalty down the road. There are easily 6 dealers in the greater KC area, so they tend to compete. 4 more weeks while the vehicle makes its way from Portland to KC.

I'm still waiting on mine. I actually drove through the dealership's back lot tonight to see if I could find it. I felt like a crazy ex-boyfriend. I updated the Toyota app the other day and got super excited when I saw the "Find" button on the app, hoping I'd be able to see the latest GSP position. Unfortunately, it gave me nothing 😩

I have a “G” status! No call from the dealership unfortunately. It’s still showing an ETA which is off. It was at F this morning and didnt get around to checking until after 7pm tonight, otherwise I would have shown up with my checkbook. Hopefully I get the call tomorrow, but I’m showing up after work either way.

Final Update: I got my "G" status sometime late Apr 6th and got the email the the RAV4 was at the dealership the morning Apr 7th. I called to schedule a pick up time but was surprised that they wanted me to wait another day. The reasoning was because the vehicle does not ship with a charged battery and the dealership wanted to charge it before handing over the keys. I told them I'm not worried about a full charge and would like to pick up today (Apr 7th). As of 5pm last night, I was the new owner of a RAV4 Prime XSE!

From "F" status to now "WTF" status....
I should be getting my Prime tomorrow April 12th, instead, I got a call from the dealer on Saturday April 9th telling me that my car got stuck at the port in a "quality" check, and it is going to take a while to release it... He states, that must be a bad batch or something wrong with the car and that is why they are holing it.
The issue, I have a rental car currently, I explained to him (that evey day that I dont receive the car it is costing me money), he tells me that it is not his dealer's fault, it is Toyota's fault and there is nothing that they can do to help me.

And now Im concerned in getting a lemon car as well. Huuurrrrr

I NEVER bought a car that was NOT BMWs or Hondas, this is my first time buying a Toyota and WTF! I already have a BAD teste in my mouth.

Which port is it at? Mine is at Long Beach. CA but loaded in a truck with no ETA!
