Few observations which I wondered whether it is supposed to be like this or not or whether there are regional variations in the software...

1. RSA DRCC is ON

When I select cruise control (right hand button on the circular control on the right hand side of the steering wheel) then press set, the speed is set by the RSA detected speed limit. So far so good. However, when I select plus or minus to increase or decrease the set speed above or below the limit the cruise control simply disables. It won't let me decide otherwise. Is this correct?
I've now switched that off as it is unhelpful as implemented.

2. DRCC with RSA OFF

All works as it should. Speed can be increased or decreased via plus and minus buttons. Separation distance can be set from 1 to 3 bars no problem. But, despite set on the 3 bars (max distance) I still note the following...
(A) Occassionally it does not see a stationary car in front of me at the lights. No clutter, straight and level road. Typically they're smaller cars than a VW Golf. Happens about 1 in 10 times overall (we have a lot of small cars in UK and Europe). Is this normal because I'm wondering if the radar field of regard might be slightly too elevated. No obvious damage visible BTW. Basically I've had to apply the brakes hard because my car did not slow nor show the car in front above the 3 bars on the displays to indicate it sees a car. Anyone had this?

(B) Using the stop go capability, when the car does detect the car in front (9 out of 10 times) and begins to slow and eventually stops it doesn't leave much room from the front of my car to the one in front. I'm talking perhaps a half a car length. Now, when I've been on various driving courses (evasive, advanced, main battle tank) it was always clear of the need to be able to see "tyres and tarmac" in front and before the next vehicle. A matter not restricted to self defence, protecting a VIP, but equally applies when or if the car in front breaks down or puts it in the wrong gear (reverse). Is this normal and is there any way to increase this spacing when stopped? Already set on 3 bars for driving separation distance by the way. Not a problem for a MBT of course, 40 to 50 metric tonnes can sort that out [emoji6]

If it is just the way it is then so be it. But if there's a way to fix it or if something is wrong I'm keen to learn more.

Thanks in advance folks. Always appreciated.

I didn’t know there was a way to have the cruise control set point automatically follow the speed limit. Mine doesn’t do that, but I’d like it to. Mayne it’s a regional thing? Can you set a tolerance over the speed limit?

Definitely not a thing in the USA. I would like that on long drives for ACC to set speed base on signage changes.

Exactly. Good insurance against speed traps.
Speaking of that, I really wish the speed warning could be set to more than 5mph over the speed limit. It’s very affective when it beeps at me, but I often go 5 over on purpose. I want it to beep at me at 7mph over, but that’s not an option.

I have it set to 5 MPH over and no tone. On longer drives I plug in my iPhone and use Waze. It bloops at me at 10 MPH over. Down side is, Waze's speed data could be out of date. But you do see live speed traps info (If someone reported it).

Yeah, I had it set for no tone at first, but that’s not very effective because if I don’t notice that I’m speeding, I won’t notice the visual alert on the instrument cluster either. The audile alert would be perfect if they would just let me set it above 5mph.

Yes indeed you can. I also just discovered that you can hold the plus or minus down to move above the auto set speed limit. Where as I was poking at the plus and minus and probably having finger trouble and accidentally pressed cancel.

I don't know if it is regional or if all of the cars have it. But you have to find the setting on the MID to switch on or off the "DRCC RSA". Road Sign Assist I think it stands for.

Well this is a first cus I've got as long list of things I wanted but not available in the UK but are on the US car. Just added that now to my list which contains electric folding wing mirrors. [emoji23]

I dont know how to set that General. Any tip appreciated. Thank you.
Currently if I'm 1mph over I get a visible warning on the HUD. I disabled the audio tone but would enable that if I could the speed to 5mph over. But like you I think 7mph would be better as my speedo is showing about 2.5mph faster than what GPS tells me.

In my European version this feature works. When a speed sign is recognized and displayed and after any speed is set all you have to do is to press and hold the + button to increase speed to the indicated speed. Or the - button to decrease accordingly. I prefer to watch the HUD when using this feature. As to tolerance I don't know.

I can only address one of your questions..
Regarding the failure to stop for a car at a light... These level 2 systems are not designed to stop for a car in front of you at a light. They are going to (hopefully) stop as an emergency situation but to expect these cars to recognize a stopped car at a light would mean that every time you approach a curve that has a parked car on the side it could panic and stop you as well.
Where people are getting confused is how the brain on these system are following a car in front of you that is recognized as traveling in front of you starts to come to a stop THEN this system will stop you as well.
We are getting spoiled into thinking it is going to stop because a car is stopped at that light in front of us.
Play with what I am saying and you will see that if your cruise control is slowing you down as the car in front slows down your car should stop as the other car stops. If your CC is not slowing down with the other.. then you will have to hit your breaks. I have had that happen a time or two as proof that this is just level 2 -- not anything more.

All working now thanks. Seems to be an issue with small, low cars. Doesn't always detect them (uses radar) so I'm a little more cautious using the adaptive cruise control.

If my cruise is engaged and I see a car stopped at a light in front of me, I apply the brake to slow me down to about 5 mph. When I reach that slow speed, I resume the cruise and the car comes to a full stop behind the car at the light. I can see the pavement under their rear wheels. All I have to do when the car in front of me starts to move is step on the accelerator and I continue already in cruise.
If I have the HOLD button engaged and I come to a complete stop, I can hit the RESume button and re-engage the cruise control. The HOLD button keeps my stopped (even though the cruise is on) until I hit the gas pedal.
I like this system. I'm training myself to almost always be in cruise control while I'm stopped so I don't forget to re-engage when I start moving again.
