For those of you that have replaced your ecu. Did you have to reprogram your immobilizer? I have not been able to find anything regarding our specific car online.

I'm not an expert specifically on the Toyota ECU, but on a lot of cars the ECU can only be programmed 1 time for the immobilizer by a standard dealer tool. However there are hack shops that can make an ECU that will work and you won't have an immobilizer. On some models of cars, when we had to replace an ECU on a vehicle with an immobilizer, we had to find a wrecked/junk car and swap out the matched ECU, BCU, and dash to make the vehicle operate and there had to be a matching chip master key. In today's world, I would go online and find those companies that will either sell you a virgin ECU, or modify your used one to work, or just see what they say based on your model and ECU part#.

It looks like it makes a difference if you have the standard key or smart push button system. I am now looking in my service manual, and it seems to indicate that you can indeed overwrite the an old VIN. Perhaps a used ECM can be used on a Toyota by using the Techstream. Hopefully someone will come on-line and tell us that they did it.
