Where is Steering Assist enabled/disabled on a 2024 RAV4 Prime? When I press the LTA button on the steering wheel it says that "Steering Assist Active" and "Lane Centering Active" (see image) The LTA indicator is white. I've never seen it turn green or orange, of which the manual says...
Illuminated in green: Steering wheel assistance of the steering assist function or lane centering
function is operating. Flashing in orange: Lane departure alert function is operating

... nor have I ever felt it tug at the steering wheel.

I'm not sure I want it to because I think that that feature on my GF's Hyundai is too aggressive. But I at least want to see what it's like. I don't see any setting to Enable or Disable it. I can just turn LTA on or off altogether or change it from a sound to a steering wheel vibration.

On older RAV4's there was an LDA (Lane departure alert?) menu that had a setting for this.

I tinkered around with it, and the wheel control is much less noticeable than with cruise control, but still there. There were no options that would "unsync" the two. Documentation isn't great, and the feature varies between models as you've stated. It was much more of a distraction than a useful feature. See if your dealer has a Toyota master mechanic to verify your options.

The left two buttons (right side of steering wheel) are used with cruise control. The top one sets the following distance, and the bottom one turns lane centering on or off. Holding cruise for 2 seconds enables constant speed (traditional) cruise control. Within settings you can further customize many settings. There are several youtube videos (dealer demos) on them. I find LCS to be too jerky compared to normal driving, and you can't trust half-warn lines in the road in NY. My friend drives a Kia and the thing beeps every time he comes close to the lines, and he does that more than you'd think someone should. lol

That's too bad. Someone will probably die. I was driving my GF's Hyundai Ioniq5 with its version of that a few months ago. There was a bicyclist riding along a road near my house, The road had a stripe painted down the middle. There was no other traffic. As I was passing him I went slightly left to give him more room and the lane-departure detector thought I was leaving my lane (I wasn't but how was it supposed to know?) So it steered me back toward the bicyclist! Luckily I won that battle with the steering wheel. A moving cyclist doesn't stand out well with a cluttered background to radar so I get why the radar didn't detect him.

After this incident I went to a cyclist online discussion forum and apparently these incidents are common.

I'd like a warning if I'm about to leave my lane, and I'd like radar to reduce the risk of colliding with the car in front of me, but I can steer my car myself, thank you very much, Toyota!

Yes, that is the LTA system on/off button. When it's white, it is enabled, but not necessarily doing anything yet.

There are several conditions that have to be met in order for these functions to become active. E.g.,speed >30 MPH, and for Lane Center, radar cruise must be on. Stuff like that as detailed in the manual.

If you want to see a better display of these functions while driving, change the MID screen to pull up the the driving support system information display. It will illuminate each lane departure line in orange on the side where the vehicle has exceeded the lane.
