So it doesn't permanently remove it, but it does make it to where you don't have to press the button anymore. Here is a quick vid on the install.

If you don't want to watch the video, here is a summary
If you turn the key and start the car almost immediately, the module will turn off the auto start/stop after a second or so
If you turn the key to acc and wait....and then start the car, the module wont do what its gotta do.

My only guess is that its set to send the "off" signal after a certain delay once the key is turned, and if it sends that signal before you actually turn the car on it will not work

Physical keyed ignition? Sorry, but the VAST majority of these RAV4s don't use the old insert/twist ignition. We're in the push-to-start age these days. :)
Lol thank you for your valuable input. When I was deciding which RAV I wanted one of the big things that deterred me from the XLE with the push button start is that in Toyotas when you install a remote start, the models with the push starts will shut off when you open the door. The ones with the physical keyed ignitions do not. I'll stick with my antique turn key ignition

I would take the physical key start over push button anyday which we have on our 2021 Rav4, simple to use never will you be stuck somewhere with a dead battery key fob which is my biggest fear.

Thanks I did some researched yes you are right, much better informed know,
I understand, though. It was seriously the first question I asked the salesman when he was starting to go over that system. "Well, what happens when the key fob's battery dies?" Oh, here's the "hidden" physical key to access the inside and you just use the end of the fob to push the start button. The RAV4 itself generates a near electrical field around the start button, which excites a coil in the end of the fob via electromagnetic induction. That energizes the RFID type chip in the fob which reads the chip data allowing the ID/security handshake to occur so the vehicle recognizes the key fob and the engine starts. It's the same concept as an RFID chip implanted subcutaneously in a dog/cat. Those don't have batteries at all and are read via an external scanner.

No battery, no problem. Drive as normal. I actually removed the battery and tried it and it works exactly like that.

This is how I disabled the stop/start system.
I disconnected this part beside the hood latch and wrapped it with electrical tape for some protection, it disabled the stop/start system without showing the lighted icon on the dashboard. Turned off the notification as well on the settings.
No complaints and functionality errors with other system so far for almost a month on a daily use.

Has anyone confirmed that disconecting the hood latch switch actually will disable the stop start function????
The guy that posted it is doing it, give it a shot! Should be easy to access it

What do you mean by “Turned off the notification as well on the settings”. Is there a notification that comes up saying that the hood is open that you can manually turn off after you do this?

You need to turn off notification or else you will see “Stop & Start Unavailable” message (as you can see in the attached pic. You can also notice that there is no Disable/Yellow warning for the Start & Stop system and yet the function is not available

Here is the screenshots how you can disable the said notification:

if you’re in doubt if it works, then just give it a try. Will not break your car nor give Engine codes by detaching the switch of engine hood latch. You don’t even have to cut or splice a wire!

Or just don’t step on your brake too much to trigger Start&Stop function.

I did this “delete” because I always park in my driveway backwards and whenever I’m in a hurry to stop to go reverse from D the engine will turn off, then will turn back on again sliding the stick from D -> Neutral. The stress it generates on Electrical or mechanical wise is too much to my liking plus I dont like having a yellow warning on my dashboard staring at me the whole time I’m driving.

Where were you before I got the module LOL. The only thing I can think of that would be affected by this is a remote start which I plan on adding. This is def the way to go though if you aren't planning on adding that

Yes I believe so, remote start will not function as well because it will think that the hood is open.

Okie dokie... I just unplugged this connector, which was actually a PITA. I depressed the locking tab, but the connection itself was very tight and the working area was cramped. I actually had to break the little plastic mount off the metal bracket to get some slack in the cable. Going for a test drive right now. Hope it works. Wish me luck! LOL

Oh, I tested it in the garage for a quick minute, but I couldn't really test it because the car wasn't warmed up. I did notice that pushing the "circle A" button the dash that the amber start/stop light still cycled on and off. We'll see what happens on the road... Stay tuned for update!

Pushing the "Circle A" button will lit the yellow Start&Stop indicator in the dash, it is designed to do that, but since you disconnected the hood latch switch already, you don't need to push the button anymore everytime you drive. The Start&Stop system is already disabled and will be "unavailable" when you come to a stop, which is why you need to disable the Pop-up Display Notifications on the settings to ignore that message.

Just be warned though that if you have/are using Remote Start, it will be disabled as well because the system will think that your engine bay is open.
