Fitcamx Video Lock?

The company seems to be actively hiding basic information, SMH.

How/can you lock a video manually?

Looks great, super easy install (took less than an hour including watching the video and adjusting the rear camera). However, trying to find out anything just leads to the product purchase page repeatedly. The menus in the map are pretty circuitous. I'm sure it'll be fine once I figure out, but it's going to take twice as long to learn to use it as it did to install it.

It appears there is no way to manually lock a clip. I guess if you see something suspect or that otherwise warrants saving, you have to page through all the stored clips, and you're SOL if it's been overwritten. I guess in a pinch you could pull over and grab it on your phone via the app.

I just tracked down a post on another forum where somebody said the camera button was saving clips. Somebody else challenged them, and they couldn't repeat the video lock. It occurred to me that maybe they jarred the housing enough to G-lock the clip, then I thought maybe one could do that deliberately; give the housing a little slap if you want a clip saved. Kind of a dumb workaround, and I don't know why a photo capture button would even exist, given that one could always screencap a still from a video.

Thanks, I'll try it. Sounds like a "future," as another forum has a discussion where they were told that would have to be accomplished via a software update. I'm not even sure how/if an update could be accomplished on these things.

Jarring the housing is a no-go. I have sensitivity set to High, and with as much violence as I dare apply, it was not locking clips. Guess I'll have to make a mental note of the time if I want to look something upp later.

Good news! I used the chat function to complain about the lack of video lock. They did the "thank you for your feedback we will forward this yadda yadda." I figured I'd vented and would be done with it. A couple days later, they replied by email and said they could apply that function if I forwarded my firmware number. It took me a couple weeks to remember to check while I was in the car, screenshotted the number, and replied back.

Bad news! I haven't heard anything from them since.

More Bad news! On 18AUG22, the camera stopped storing 3 minute loops, and started saving 45 second loops.

More bad news! The loops got progressively shorter, until by 20AUG22, they were one second long.

More Bad news! Around 10pm 20AUG22, it stopped saving loops at all.

More bad news! Their chat function is broken and nobody responds to emails.

I reformatted the SD and reset the camera settings, and started getting 30 second videos for a little while. I might be hosed here.

Interesting. I was going to reach out to them about a new firmware. I model that I installed only allowed a selection of 1 minute recording loops. It was all fine but I kept reading comments like you made where you were recording 3 minute loops. I guess I will check to make sure mine is still working and maybe count my blessings. Good luck

Update: They never did respond to the email chain generated by the chat, and the chat is stills broken. I started a new email chain to their CS address, and got a fairly prompt response. They transmitted a firmware update labeled 26AUG, which seems to have restored the proper filing of loops, and has replaced the storage of photos with the locking of video clips. Locked clips can only be deleted by reformatting the SD.

I'll keep an eye on the loops, I guess if they start going south I can just re-flash the firmware again.
