Don't give them any ideas :ROFLMAO:

I have now driven five RAV4's (2x gas, 1x hybrid, 2x PHEV) and they all had spares - not quite the full size, but larger and definitely less awkward than 50-mph donuts tend to be. I wasn't sure if that was the rule, though, so thanks for the info.
FYI, If you were to buy a new Prius. It doesn't come with a spare tire, or even have an option to buy a spare tire. Although the Prius has room for a spare tire (not plug-in). If you want a spare tire in a new Prius, you have to go to the Toyota Parts Department and order a bunch of parts - wheel, tire, hold-down brackets, foam spacers, jack, etc....

I own a '23 R4H Limited, and it comes with a full-size spare tire, with an alloy wheel identical to the other four tires. I think I could include the spare in my tire rotation, but didn't because it may complicate my rotation for little practical benefit.
I stand corrected. Guys, my spare is bigger, not a donut though but it's not as wide compared to the other four tires. It's really is just a spare.

There is a bit of a "linguistic porridge" situation on with these terms :). For the sake of clarity, a donut is for temporary use only, a tiny, overinflated tire, mounted on a stamped steel rim that is able to get you to the nearest tire shop <50 mi @ < 50 mph. A spare tire sounds like a little bit of a misnomer in this context, because the thing we typically change at the roadside ourselves is a whole spare wheel.

In both the Sienna and RAV4 Prime I have, just like you described, a spare wheel that is just a little smaller than the regular wheel, with an alloy rim and a normally looking tire, so not a donut :)

At least we have a spare alloy rim that’s identical to the other four, just in case.

When I had a flat tire, here’s the spare being mounted. The guy in the photo is a staff member from the shop—good thing the flat happened close by.

The lack of a spare tire in the Honda CRV hybrid was a major factor when it came down to the wire back when I was trying to decide. I'm glad it didn't come with one now because I'm not a big fan of Honda anymore with all of the lawn mower engines brought up to adequacy by turbos. Next thing I'll be watching out for when shopping time comes around again is the "pay to use options I already paid for money grab."

I had a 2020 CRV hybrid, and indeed, the inept way they fit their tiny 1.2 kWh hybrid battery was just too stupid to put up with. Clearly the Honda nincompoops hadn't designed the CRV to be a hybrid from the get-go, unlike the RAV4.

To be fair, the CRV Hybrid avoided the turbo treatment. It has a naturally aspirated Atkinson 2.0L (which you can find in the hybrid Accord as well). Not a lawn mower engine, but still underpowered for the CRV (141 hp originally, now I think it went up a little, but still now quite 150 hp and well below RAV4's 177 hp - and it does show).

using a new spare tire with zero miles on it to replace a used tire with 20,000-30,000 miles that has gone flat - seems like it would trigger AWD issues with the spare tire being a different size (with the wear) and activating the AWD system...
if you have 3 tires with 20,000 miles on them - most tire shops will make you buy 4 new tires...

The RAV4 does not come with run-flat tires. If you get a flat, put on the included spare. Some car insurance companies include tow service with your insurance policy, which would also include putting on the spare for you if needed.

Just remember to check the tire pressure in your spare; nothing worse than to have a flat only to discover your spare is also flat (been there, done that).
My 2022 Limited came with complimentary road service for I think 1 yr, but I have BCAA(AAA) in the US.

There’s no connection between the front and back on the hybrid, at most you’d have to replace 2 tires. If the tires had over 20/30K I’d probably replace all four, if they only had 10K miles then I’d only do two

That makes sense. I've read that, in countries like Australia, they couldn't sell many cars without full-sized spare tires. Maybe 18" vs. 19" wheels was the issue.

As far as the worst car I've ever driven, it would have to be an American Motors Co. (AMC) Gremlin. The City Government I worked for back then had bought a bunch of them. As a junior employee I was tasked with putting some miles on it.

I put a full size spare in all of our 3 Rav4s (one 2023 XLE and two 2024 Limiteds). It fits in the wheel well. .

That was a long time ago. As you probably noticed AMC is no longer around. Wonder why.

My manager told me that he was restoring a Pacer. It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud.

Does the full-size fit very tightly? Were there any foam spacers you had to remove?

In all electrified RAV4s the e-AWD is a part of the overall traction control system that also operates the stability control, the brake force distribution, and the regenerative deceleration functions. I am pretty sure is stays busy ("activated") all the time :). I believe the TCS will know how to handle the small differences in the wheel size and grip that is caused by wear or a slightly smaller spare wheel.

For our 2023 ICE XLE that came with 225/65/17, the full size winter spare on Toyota steel wheel in same size fits perfectly. Have to remove the white “C” shaped foam only.

On the 2024 ICE limited trim RAV4 we have that comes with 235/55/19 tires, I put a full size 235/65/17 winter tire as a spare on an ALLOY wheel to use the the tire rotation of the winter set. For this setup, I had to remove the white “C” shaped foam and the black foam that sits under the spare temporary(donut) spare. It’s a snug fit but not hard to place or remove.
For this winter tire size, once the removable floor is placed over the spare, the rear edge of the floor is not quite flush It is raised about 3/8” or about 10mm. The front is flush near tailgate opening.

Actually, AMC, which includes Jeep, is still around. There have been several mergers over the years: "After periods of intermittent independent success, Renault acquired a significant interest in American Motors in 1979, and the company was ultimately acquired by Chrysler in 1987." (Wikipedia). I had a Jeep Cherokee built during the Renault period; the French electronics were a significant problem for me.
