Welcome to the forum. The charger is under the seat. It has a cooling fan. There is going to be heat down there.

 

Thank you for reply. I checked passenger rear side cooling fan grill before, but grill was never warm , normal room temperature. Of couse, grill was not blocked... How about your driver rear seat? warm or room temperature?

 

There is grille under the passenger side rear seat that allows air flow to the DC to DC converter under the seat. If this is blocked in anyway, that will lead to potential overheating. People with pets will need to check the grille to ensure it does not plugged. Charging in the winter does noticeably warm up the interior a bit.

 

Is it possible your son inadvertently turned on his rear seat heater?

 

No, rear seat are hot everytime after charging. And hot spot is side wall, not ON the seat, Thank you for reply.

 

was it his left or right leg where it was warm? just curious so I can check next time I charge.

 

Right side leg was warmer. The most warm or hot site was side wall of drivers rear seat.(red circle)

 

I charged my car and checked all of the rear seat area for warmth, but I did not find any. There is a fan that is under the rear seat that runs during the entire charging operation. You should be able to hear the fan running. If you don't hear the fan, then the dealer should have a look at the issue.

I checked my car yesterday at service center, they said my seat heat was normal, another PHEV of dealer's car had same heat.
I'm not sure which is right.
They said fan would run if temperature is high.
I'll check fan running like your car while charging next time. I didn't check if my fan running.
Can you tell me about the temperature of your charging environment? Was it hot weather or not?
(Hot enough for running fan?)
