Wireless Android Auto via Motorolla MA1 , player - Musicolet Music Player.

 

Do you experience any lags during music playing/ song change or folder change?

Also, could you tell me why you decided to use wireless aa, instead of using cable to usb port?

Sort of related but is there a way to quickly get from Android Auto to the Toyota audio page? I find it pretty annoying to have to use the android Auto waffle to pull up the full list of Toyota apps, select Toyota icon, then hit the music note. That's a lot of presses!

^ sure! I use a Ottocast U2AIR Pro on mine - I've had it for a few months now and no issues to report. The one I use is CarPlay-only, but they have equivalents for Android Auto or ones that support both protocols.

 

I use the Carlinkit 5.0 that supports both CarPlay and Android Auto wireless.

 

Does that work pretty seamlessly? I have another vehicle that isn't wireless where this would be nice.

 

Use a Pixel 5a and had to get Musicolet to be able to get it to work with my RAV4 since Simple Music Player does not work on Android Auto. Been happy with it.

I use a USB thumb drive in the port under the climate control. All music on a USB must be converted into FAT 32 format or it will not play in the RAV4.

 

Just format the USB into FAT32, right?

 

2017 Rav4 LE, I use the radio's source Bluetooth to connect it to my phone and play my music that way.

 

Yes it does work pretty much seamlessly after you set it up. Now I have only used it on the RAV4s so you might research it if it is another brand.

 

I can confirm exFAT which is the default on most thumbdrives, does NOT work.

 

So NTFS or FAT only may work. Btw, why play from thumb drives, can't AA or Carplay play from your phone's storage using Musicolet or YTmusic?

 

my 2023 was not wireless and I bought the tray that fits in the slot to make it wireless.
Alas I think its at the loss of MP3 playing from the USB slot which DOESNT register at all when I put my USB stick in there 32gig formatted by FAT.

 

It seems we're in the same boat—perhaps our '23 Rav4 have been downgraded, or this applies to specific models, not just trims. And we're the minority.

Edit: Are you referring to wireless AA or wireless charging? I misunderstood. I have wireless charging while AA, Car Playis wired only, upgraded to wireless AA by Carlin.

 

I typically stream music rather than play locally. I have a vast collection, so I'm considering revisiting my catalog. I don't want to use a thumb drive. If I store the MP3s on my phone, I can play them via Bluetooth, but I'll lose Android Auto functionality because I'm using Carlin AA. Just my opinion.

 

I'm thinking of buying a wireless charger and wireless AA adapter. Any thoughts?

 

Yes, both are beneficial and useful.

 

i replaced the old ravs radio with a media player.
it has 2 usb ports so you can run a solid state drive on it.
lots of music on those drives.
just a bit over 20K songs.
and it has XM sat radio as well as high def am and fm tuners.
pm if you need links for the unit.

yea mp3 or wma as a player and direct 3.5mm plug in is on its way out.
but Bluetooth is still on most radios.

 

my headunit has memory to load mp3s/audio/video. i just save what i need on a usb FAT32 and then transfer it or leave it connected. i typically dont listen to mp3s anymore, just stream everything. youtube premium is the way to go.

 

Im using YTmusic and Pandora One.

 

I tried to use google map for navigation and Spotify at the same time, but the music kept cutting ....

 

Does this happen during maps voice guidance, afterwhich the music resumes?

I use Android Auto and the app I use for MP3/OGG is this one. AIMP - Apps on Google Play

The AA app is pretty decent, supports scrubbing etc.

 

Well, Spotify worked good this morning. One problem solved. ^^

 

Use an old iphone hooked up to the usb in the cubby under the hvac controls
Sometimes blutooth my current cell phone

I use a 32 gig USB thumb drive. It can hold about 500 hours worth of MP3's encoded at 128kb/sec. I can also play MP3 files off my cell phone via Android Auto using an App called "Musicolet". But I prefer the USB thumb drive. It just stays with the car, and I find it more reliable than any of the Android Auto apps on my 2023 Rav4 Prime SE.
