I don't know as I have only owned a RAV hybrid. I changed my oil and filter on my Prius v twice and said screw it, pay the Dealer. The Prius had a paper filter in a canister instead of screw on filter and it was a pain in the ass and I believe the RAV is the same. I don't know why Toyota uses such an antiqued system, my guess is if they make it a PITA you would be more likely to go to a Dealer. Ii know some will say go to Jiffy Lube or a similar business. Problem is most Jiffy Lubes are thieves and liars.��

So for the RAV4H, you didn't even try to change the oil yourself because the filter is identical to the one used on your Prius V?

 

Yeah I changed paper filters before, but usually I'm able to find a guide online that shows with pictures how to properly change it and what type of oil, filter, etc. to buy and use. This is my first hybrid vehicle so I don't know how similar this vehicle is to the non 2016 hybrid version?

Use nothing but synthetic 0-20 lube. Reading the manual is often helpful.
The maintenance light comes on every 5K. Oil changes are every 10K.

 

I have the Hybrid and it takes me maybe 30 minutes to do. I don’t even have to jack the car up. This video should help.

Yes, just like any same year Rav4. Changed oil myself on 2016 Rav4 Hybrid & it's easy. Youtube has a few good videos. You'll need a special size socket to correctly change the oil filter. Everything is available on Amazon. I find it very rewarding knowing it's done right. Owner's manual shows the jack points. Rotate the tires at the same time. Engine & cabin air filters are a snap to change yourself too.
