Hey Folks,
Got a 2010 6-cylinder sport. Love it. 250+ K and still going.
BUT..
Battery died, tried to jump it, stupidly reversed the polarity, corrected, jumped, started, but the car is now in LIMP mode. 1K RPM and 5 mph, no more.

Car was running good before the self-inflicted problems. :/

Checking all the fuses now. So far, nothing, but still working on the under dash fuses...tough for me to get to those.

FYI - the fuse boxes under the hood, driver and pass sides are all good.

FYI - The battery was bad and I replaced it before I started troubleshooting the limp mode.

yes, there is power going into the fuse box.
Update: There is a DTC
P2118 - Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range/Performance
Anyone seen this before?, especially after reversing the cables during a jump?
Thanks

Many threads on fixing this reversed jump issue. Try a search.

Hey guys, this was all due to a blown fuse, which I missed due to me putting a replacement for the blown fuse into the wrong slot, which is normally unused.. Once I realized there was a missing fuse , and put one in, the limp mode was gone. About 200 miles later the code cleared, the check engine, AWD , and trac lights also went out. Thanks for the inputs.

ETCS fuse? I think 10A. It is the first to go. Glad that it did not take out the 'fusebus' . That is a pain.

I think you will notice a low idle when warm. Clean the thottle body and you should be good to go.

hello my friend !
how have you solved it same situation on my 2008 rav4 badly jumped and now no pedal response at all!do I need new ECU?

There generally is more than one fuse involved. Fuses need to be tested with a continuity tester since a visual check alone is not reliable. Did you check this thread? Lots of reading but a rather thorough explanation: Effects of reversing battery polarity - with fixes.

With 2008 rav4
I guess a guy messed up with the jump starting process!
I don't know but because according to the symptoms/clues I have seen here including
@The fuse of ETCs 10A burnt out
@The fuse of ALT 120A burnt out
@The only faults I have are blaming the throttle body actuator motor circuit!
@ accelerator pedal is useless
Tested Throttle body actuator no problem
Tested continuity from actuator to module no problem
Tested accelerator position sensor; it's circuit no problem, headache 😔.
It is an indicator of the crossed jump starting process!
By Searching I found that only fuse replacement is common saviour but does no help for me Strong headache!

Sometimes if "person A" is blaming "person B"
They're two possibilities
1.person B is wrong Or
2.person A is Wrong

So by suspecting the ECM this is what I have found in it
current forced Two legs were to go for a visit 😂

By having another ECU the car is happy again on uphill condition!

you see ECU blaming ETCS !!! While it is the one to be blamed 🙆
