Maintenance Required reset?

My 22 RAV4 Prime SE has 34k miles on it. At 29k I took it in for its 30k checkup. $400, half of which seemed like fluff (fuel injector cleaning?) but it also included an oil change so I paid it. Now at 34k it pops up with "maintenance required" every time I start it. I took it back to the dealer & was told "tire rotation and oil change" (Toyota recommends 10k intervals, it's a Prime so almost half my miles are as an EV, and although the tires are worn, the backs are slightly more worn so I wouldn't want them rotated to the front). I asked if they could reset the maintenance interval and was told "not unless we do the work." This is bullshit! How can I reset this message in my dash gauge myself? I'm not paying a dealer for work I don't need or want just to get the thing reset.

The maintenance required message comes on every 5,000 miles. Yes, the oil is changed only every 10K miles, but there is recommended maintenance, mostly tire rotation, in the schedule at 5,000 miles. Your last service was 29K. 29K + 5K = 34K.

Your owners manual shows how to reset it.

Check out the owner's manual for instructions to reset Easy.
On another subject, Toyota needs to find a way to update their oil change intervals for PHEV. I have a 21 Prime with 37,000+ miles but about 60% of that is on EV. I have followed the recommended oil change intervals because I don't want to void any warranties but it seems to me that PHEV's should have oil changes every 15,000+ miles. In fact, except for tires, there should be new charts for the maintenance schedules for PHEV's based on estimated ICE mileage.

I totally agree, and was planning to change the oil every 10k, since I run on EV half the time or more and it's an easy interval to remember. I might rotate my tires more often, but on my own schedule and using an independent tire shop I've been buying tires from for years, and it's none of Toyota's business how often I rotate my tires or whether I even do it. It's so aggravating it's borderline actionable harassment to have a pop-up screen in my car I have to reset every 5000 miles (and can't turn it off or disable it) for no adequate reason.
