Just out of curiosity, per your VINs can you share with the members here the location of your RAV4s final assembly (i.e. First letter of VIN is "J" indicates from Japan and etc.)? I spoke with a few RAV4 owners here locally, couldn't quit say if there is any commonality so I thought I ask here. Thx!

P.S. There a number of "VIN Decoder" websites in case you need it...

... of the 4 friends I have asked, 3 of them also observed oil leak now including you guys (stefen1990 and hhung516) a total of 5 RAV4s that were assembled in Canada, there seems to be a consistency up to this point. BTW, the one friend's RAV4 and mine (a 2014 model though) were built in Japan, so far so good keeping our fingers crossed. Thank you all for sharing! I wonder if "jest" VIN also starts with a "2".

Ha! Ditto, no more Honda for me as well! Years ago, I finally saved enough money for a TLC but because of oil leak at the transfer case, I traded that TLC in for a Honda only to be even more disappointed and pissed, so I figure to stay with Toyota is still much more reliable.

I have a Canadian built 2015 XLE AWD and I noticed an oil leak on top of the motor about a year ago around 35,000 Kms. I didn't have any leaks on the driveway but I did have some very suspicious spots on the top of the engine. I monitored the situation and when I took it into the dealership last summer for an oil change, I explained that I was concerned given this was a brand new vehicle. My service advisor decided to degrease the top of the engine without checking with me. I refused to pay for the service and they assumed the expense. They stated that it was "normal engine sweating" but I didn't accept that explaination. So I just took it in today to the dealership for the 48,000 check up and showed them the same oil leaks. Once again they tried to say that it was "normal engine sweating". I wonder if this is a standard operating quote they have to give??? Either way, they agreed to replace the gasket / silicon next week all under warranty...I attached some photos ....
Yes, very topical of any dealership's initial response to something that "they" deem as minor and don't feel that they want to spend time on....They rarely think from a customer's perspective. It's good that now they will do something about it.
