RAV4 Prime XSE catalytic converter thefts?

I have a 2021 RAV4 Prime XSE. It has a lot of ground clearance, and sometimes I have to park it in risky areas. I wonder if Toyota makes an approved kit (that does not cause any operating or service access problems), to protect the catalytic converter from being cut off and stolen?

I checked maybe 2mo ago w/ local toyota dealer parts dept and was told they don't have a solution yet. If I had to park with any regularity in high risk areas I would absolutely find a theft deterrent devise and they do exist. Too bad these aren't hidden or obscured behind a thick plate making them much harder to steal.

How about an off-roading skid plate? Anyone have any feedback on this part (?):

toyota RAV4 Front Skid Plate for Adventure & TRD Off-Road models - PT93842210 - Genuine toyota Accessory

EDIT - Skid plate will probably not work - I found this one online, and it only protects under the engine - it is not large enough to extend over the CC, and if it did, doesn't look like there is anywhere to mount it to...

LP Aventure front skid plate - 2019-2021 Toyota RAV 4 – LP Aventure Inc

BUT this is available for Tacoma:

Oregon law has just gone into effect. People trying to sell cats have to provide photo I.D. including their driver license, VIN, license plat number, and make and year of vehicle from which cat originated, and then wait two weeks before receiving payment from the buyer.

They should add Registered Owner ONLY, fingerprinting, and a wait period of 9months. Criminal scum can't wait 9months. They could pull it off on a vehicle they own, but attempting to do it multiple times to their own vehicle will raise flags. I can't imagine freinds/family wanting to be a straw seller due to the fingerprinting and legal troubles for a few dollars kicked back by the scum.

Fingerprinting easily done, as their are locations that do this for certain job requirement (ie nursing). CAT scrap sellers would have to show-up w/ legitimate license & get fingerprinted.

the cat on the rav4 are connected to the manifold so its not accessible the one u see is the second cat and it has almost no value.

We should take an electric scriber and etch "Resonator" on this second CAT so these low life's will leave it alone.

We don't have problems with catalytic converter thefts here. But we have major car theft rings that steal the entire cars in under 20 secs without any damage
They seem to be able to download and duplicate the frequency needed to unlock and start the car from the internet somehow
This is a major problem here 10-20 high end Toyotas and Lexus are stolen every night. And 99% are never recovered and more then likely shipped off overseas

Reminds me of this gem from Top Gear…

curious why the prime has so many cats compared to the hybrid.

Maine now requires dealers and service agencies to engrave the VIN on catalysts when they work on the vehicle (maine has mandatory yearly auto inspections). Anyone caught with a cat without a VIN is presumed to have stolen property, scrap recyclers have to have proof of VIN. Folks can always go over the border to NH to sell them but it is a start to take the profit out of the theft.

Toyota needs to step up their game before they start loosing market share. Almost all 2022 Ford models have a feature that if any of the emission cables are cut the alarm automatically goes off. Simple yet effective Cat Theft prevention..
