A couple of days ago my Toyota app sent me a notification message to check the rear seat. Of course I checked the rear seat right away and thankfully I did not find any forgotten kids. I certainly didn't expect to find any because young children have not yet been passengers in my Rav4. This is the first time in 20 months that I have received such a message. I wasn't aware that this app function existed and I couldn't find anything about it in my OM. But it is probably good to have if you transport pets or kids.

First I've heard of that crazyhorse but folks here with a lot of experience may know. Haven't seen anything recently on this forum or reddit and I didn't think that kind of thing appeared on the app. It's cool though since a lot of especually stupid village idiot people do leave their kids and pets in the car for long periods. And for those that don't but on that one occassion they forget then it could be useful? See what the folks here think.

I noted this two days ago on my 2021 Limited. I locked the car with the app, and there was some weight on the second seat from ipad + child car seat. I dont get such notification when i touch lock the car.

It's in the app setting and there are two spots. Open the app, log in, then click Account at the bottom. Then click Notification Settings. The third one down is "Rear Seat Reminder". Toggle that off. Then scroll down more to the very bottom and toggle off the push notifications for the Rear Seat Reminder.
Mine told me to check the rear seat when I left the doors open on accident at a store. I thought maybe someone got in the back while the doors were unlocked and started to panic. Didn't find anyone there and there was nothing in the back seat at all. I was very confused. It's done it to me a couple of times since. I couldn't take it anymore so I searched the owner's manual, all the functions, etc. One video showed using the gauge cluster to turn it off which threw me off where you really need to go. The video is for the Rav4 Prime and doesn't even have that setting.
I put my experience after so people just wanting to know how to turn it off can find it quickly and not hear my story.

I've had mine for almost a year now, and just started getting this reminder. I wonder if it's new, or if it just got re-enabled on an app update? It hadn't occurred to me that it's really a "Did you forget your kids in the car?" reminder!

There is a setting in the app to turn off that reminder.
