Just purchased a 2020 RAV4 XLE AWD Premium which has a bunch of factory add-ons. However I'm slightly annoyed that it has a basic rear-view mirror. I mean at the very least they could've but in an auto dimming one.

So question to you RAV4 folks. Does Toyota sell an auto-dimming mirror or even the digital rear-view mirror for installation? I tried searching on Toyota Parts website but can't find anything other than a Homelink mirror, but that says nothing about being auto-dimming.

I believe the XLE doesn't even have the wiring run to the mirror that would work for auto dimming, but I could be wrong.

I installed the wireless Homelink mirror and have been satisfied, even though I thought I wouldn't be able to do without auto dimming like I had on my tacoma.

Hopefully there is a wire to install the digital mirror since its offered as a part of a package on the XLE premium. Coming from Shopping around for a Subaru, Toyota has so many different tiers, & packages, it's confusing.

Gentex ADVGENADLN will work fine. I bought it from Cruthfield and it came with a plug and play harness. Auto dimming and Homelink. You will need to run wires down left a pillar to the fusebox. There are 2 vacant slots in my 2020 fusebox that work. I used fusetaps, FYI.

Nice! Did you need an adapter to mount it or did it fit the existing?

No adaptor, fits on the existing mount. Only concerning part for me was removing the plastic surround. Start with the upper smaller piece. It pulls upward and out with a lot of effort. On the bottom are 2 tabs that face down so be careful. the other larger piece pulls down, along with the slope of the windshield.

Thanks for the install tips! I just placed an order for the mirror.

The Crutchfield kit has a harness w three wires with an plug that plugs directly into the mirror. So, no cutting into the mirror harness, making for a nicer install. Below is what came in the kit. If you want the harness Crutchfield may sell it or perhaps ebay.

Thanks! I got mine today, Amazon had it for a little less. It also included same harness. Will attempt the install this weekend.

I'll be very interested to hear if it works for your XLE Premium - if so, I want to do it for mine. If you have the time, take some pics and document to make it easy on the rest of us ;)

Here to report back that the installation of the mirror was a success. It was straightforward, there was no need to remove the plastic cover that surrounds the mirror nor did I need to remove the panel covering the pillar.

Hats-off to Rav4Gen5's excellent Dash Cam installation video HERE, which was a huge help on which panels to remove, how to easily hide the wire run and connect them to the fuse box and ground.

The only difference from the dash cam application is that you will need a constant power feed in addition to the ignition power feed. To make things easy, there are two available slots in the fuse box. The one shown in Rav4Gen5's video is for the ignition power feed, the other is for the constant power. The wire diagram below provided by watchmanic (thank you!) was very helpful as this was not included with my installation kit.

The kit contains everything you need to install the mirror. Included in the box is the wire harness, wire ties and six plier tap connectors that fit seamlessly with the power feed end of the harness cable. I chose not to go down the plier tap route and instead opted to use an add-a-circuit kit to plug directly into the fuse box.

Gentex ADVGENADLN Frameless Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror HomeLink

Littelfuse Holder Low Profile Mini Add-A-Circuit 10A Card (includes an assortment of 4 fuses)

1. Remove the old mirror with a torx screwdriver without removing the surround.

2. Feed the harness cable through the hole; power connection end first.

3. Pull the cable all the way through, re-attach the mirror to the windshield, connect the mirror's cable to the harness; hide the remaining cable inside the surround.

4. Continue along the ceiling, tucking the cable inside. Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently pry open the tight areas.

5. Continue across and down the pillar to the fuse box area, connect the ground & ignition power feed as seen in Rav4Gen5's video.

6. Connect the constant power feed to the only other open slot in the fusebox.

7. Enjoy your new mirror!

I received my mirror from Amazon today and it has a different wiring harness than yours - just a ground wire and a single power wire. I have not attempted install yet.

To confirm: mirror part number on box was ADVGENFLCHLN. Accessory bag with wire harness was 901-1369-000

No my mirror is ADVGENADLN, looks like your part ends with "FLCHLN". My mirror was $219, not sure if the one you got will fit. If you were thinking of giving it a try, I'd contact the manufacturer to see if that model will fit the RAV4. Looking at the product image on Amazon, looks like you have the Bluetooth model where you can sync it w/the Homelink app. I don't think mine has that feature so maybe that is the only difference.

I definitely ordered the “ADLN” version, so I may have been shipped the wrong model. Same price at $219. Will likely contact the manufacturer tomorrow and check.

It doesnt look like the one you received has autodim. There should be 4 wires to hook up for a homelink mirror with autodim. You can also buy one off of ebay for a fraction of the price. I got a GNTX-536 for $60 shipped. It has autodim, homelink, and hidden compass. If you do go that route though, be sure to get one that has a harness with it.
