Hi,
I’m still working on my friends 2009 3.5l Rav 4 that I posted previously about the fuel pump and fuel pressure issues which seem to be resolved.
I’m changing her spark plugs now. When I pulled out the left back and middle back spark plugs they both had oil on the threads and the back left spark plug was in pretty bad shape.
I thought spark plug tube seals but sticking an endoscope in both holes shows they are spotless. So some more reading says it’s likely the bottom of the spark plug tubes leaking.…. Is there anything else that could cause oil on the spark plug threads?
I see posts saying some of these engines have pressed in spark plug tubes, and some have screwed in spark tubes. Sounds like the screw in type are easy-ish to fix, but the press in kind require a special tool.
I’m not having luck figuring out what kind her engine has, how does one determine that? Nor what exactly the tool is called, and if it’s something I could do if it is the press in kind.
