we bought our RAV4 2018 for a couple of years now, I recently discovered a strange noise (like rusty springs or metal being pulled, or like when you open an old rusty container Door you can hear the hinges make a loud noise). This happens when I am ready to drive the car after changing gear for P to D and when I slowly release my leg of the brake pedal , the noise appears. and it is very loud! This also happens from P to R.

I can also now hear the noise at very lower speeds when I am in drive mode, like 10KM per hour if I am making a small turn in the street.

I have a service contract and warranty on the car from Toyota, dealer said this is normal noise and I might need to skim the discs which they did, and still noise is still there!

Went also to Bosch, they replaced the discs with brand new ones and also break pads, still same noise!

I am first owner of the car and it has only 36,000Km on it since I bought!

Hope you guys can help out. here is a video with the sound

I've had something similar ever since my first brake job. Replaced pads with Raybestos EHT's as well as their hardware. Seems like it's usually when backing out of the garage for the first drive of the day I get sort of a metallic "clink" or "clunk" like a pad or caliper has shifted. Been doing this for a while now and there doesn't seem to be any unusual pad wear or steering issues when braking... Very strange.

Yes this might be related to the brake job ..that last service did include a brake job, however I did not do that at the agency, I went to BOSCH, but they installed genuine parts as per my request. I agree on the noise as well, it is like you have described metallic "clink" or "clunk" like a pad or caliper has shifted. Did they tell you it was normal and nothing to worry about?
