Anything can be fitted with enough money. Even though it may share the same engine, an issue comes up with placement of the blower, proper mounting brackets and belt routing. Also you'll have to fabricate piping, and I'd also want to run an intercooler with it as well. Then even if you get everything installed and routed, you'll have to worry about engine mangement. Sure you could go all out with a full standalone system like a Motec, but that can cost up into the several thousand just for a basic Motec setup. You'll also have to get everything tuned with supporting mods. I don't think the RAV4 has sufficient fuel supply for forced induction. May have to add an inline fuel pump or larger in tank fuel pump.

While it "could" be fitted, you need to consider that it won't be plug and play. I suggest that you email Toyota and insist that they offer a RAV4 specific kit that won't void your warranty.

Maybe they will listen... maybe not.

Personally.... I think a supercharged RAV4 V6 is pure crazy.

To add to what has been mentioned above, adding this amount of power to the engine requires a bunch of other powertrain modifications if you have exceeded the maximum specifications that all the related components can handle. For example, will the tranny, half shafts, differential reliably handle another 100lbs of so of TQ and live long?

I think if you want that kind of power it would be better to start with a different SUV and powertrain that are carefully designed and engineered to work as advertised. Now if TRD would do the research and development work for a conservative SC "kit" specifically for the RAV V6, that might desire a second look.

As far as powertrain upgrades, you'd probably want to look into getting a new valve body with better clutch packs/bands as well as a beefed up torque converter. I know with the supercharged G35 automatics, the power comes on so suddenly that the TCM doesn't have time to shift the car fast enough without bouncing off the rev limiter, so raising the rev limiter slightly may be in order which you'd have to do with an ECU reflash or secondary engine management.

Roughly 60hp and 50 lb-ft is a good amount of extra power on it, and considering it's warranted by Toyota it means the powertrain should hold up reasonably well. If you want more there's always smaller pulleys available, but then you warranty coverage goes bye-bye.

The TRD Aurion is the world's first production car to be fitted with a four-lobe Eaton™ TVS supercharger.

What about the ZR-1 :(

You have to take into consideration how much torque the drivetrain can handle too... The Turion uses the 6speed, so you gotta think, different stuff.. Then can our "4WD" handle the torque?

This would be a very easy thing to do mechanically, but getting it here to the states without getting raped on the cost is the problem. All the engineering has already been done. You also would kiss off your warranty but the driveline should handle it without any problem.

329 HP in a RAV sounds like fun to me, (Gotta die sometime)

Well TOYOTA Aust isnt much help.
They just replied indicating that they could not disclose any future releases.... which really does not answer my question.

I rang them direct and all they give is a very vivid answer. I asked if the supercharger can be installed on a RAV4 as it is similar engine. If so what other consideration should I take. All I got was, since because it is same engine, there should be no probllem. Very vivid indeed.

Just because it's the "same engine" doesn't mean it's going to fit. The supercharger blower sits on top of the intake manifold.... and Toyota LOVES to pack their engine compartment tight. You'll need to probably move some stuff around to clear enough space.

The Aurion is really a Camry; it would go on fine. Camrys probably have less room than RAV''s.
Like I said, the hard thing would be getting your hands on it, since all the engineering of the installation was done by an Australian Co and they control the whole deal, not Toyota or TRD.

I had a 2002 tundra V8 that I put a TRD Blower kit on, that truck would even beat ford lightnings, but Toyota stopped selling the kits after about 9 months because it made the truck so squirrly. My brother has it now.

i’ll pass on the supercharge… i can see this happening to the Rav... i think the RAV has pretty good power as is… if anything a quick TRD mod to the suspension if your going to add more straight line power… one reason i'm ready to dump the RAV early next year 'when and if' Infiniti brings over the EX37 package...

No follow-up on this? No-one has considered getting this supercharger? Nice find!

I've read that the Lexus IS350 is the 'same' engine as the RAV4 too but it is not. If they this Aurion has exactly the same engine, why not try it?

And yes, I know this is an old thread but it just died. This is good stuff...

Well, I know there were some "issues" with its release over there. I think there was a lot of concern about a car that was putting 330 hp to the front wheels alone (the factory TRD Aurion). I don't think it's offered anymore. So, you'd think that there's a glut of 2GR-FE-ready superchargers out there just waiting for us!!!! I wish, I wish, I wish I could have one. Let's be realistic though - this would be extemely expensive to install given the additional costs of bulletproofing the transmission and probable tuning required. It would be SO sweet to have though. I'm going to have to research it again...

By the way, here's the other big thread on the 2GR-FE supercharger. I'm going to re-read the whole thing too. See the last post (#70) "Toyota has suspended sales of its recently released high performance TRD Aurion, pending an investigation of an engine failure last week, 9/18/07" - perhaps this is why this supercharger seems like a ghost:

Ok everybody, wake up! Somebody is sourcing and importing supercharged 2GR-FE engines to the U.S. Check this link out:
http://www.woodsport.org/joomla/ind...gine-conversions/7-toyota-mr2-mk2-engine-conversions-/29-2gr-fe-conversion.html
Now, this swap is being done on a MR2 so this should be more doable with a Rav4. Note at the end of the article it says "a supercharged option for this engine will also be available in the coming months, according to the supercharger kit's developer. This will be on the stock ECU and injectors so even higher BHP numbers will be achievable using a standalone ECU and injector upgrade. Updates will appear here as they happen." Does this then mean that the actual developer of the 2GR-FE supercharger (which isn't TRD) may be developing install kits. It's not much to go on here and I know it's super-optimisitc, but I hope this happens!

Like was said in another thread, the Lotus Evora will probably bring a wealth of performance parts that can be adapted to the Rav. The Evora has a worse power to weight ratio than the Elise, and I don't think that Lotus will let it stay that way for long. The 2GR-FE makes 280 HP naturally aspirated, and maybe that can be bumped up another 20-30 with some work, but to get more torque will probably involve a supercharger like the Elise has.

Ok, here's the question of the day!: Who's got the $? (It looks like the Aurion Supercharger, for the 2GR-FE is still for sale in this thread!):

Just read the thread! You still need the ECU to make this supercharger work properly. You can not (or should not) just purchase the supercharger. The thread also mentions getting a longer belt for the pulley.

How come you haven't purchased the supercharger yet? :D

BTW: Thanks for the cool videos.
