Im trying to program a spare smart key in which ive done in the past with older toyotas. Im running into this 96 digit seed code and pin required to program the key for my 2019 rav4.

After doing some researching i found that there are online services that will spit out the pin code needed for key registarion as long as you input the vin and the 96 seed code. The only problem is my seed code is not 96 digits and the mentioned services will not process the pin code needed for key registration. Anyone have any info on what im missing here?

thanks for the upload but unfortunately toyota has forced Seed code verification with the 2019's ,

Were on a waiting game for third parties to get a generator going to give us the pass code .

Ive setup keys for 2009, 2012,2014' toyotas this is the first one i couldn't do it because of the stated above.

Hey we you able to program the key/transponder for the 2019/20 rav4?
If so, can you share the process since i have a blank one that needs programming.

This may not be enough for adding/reprogramming smart keys for 2019 and above. Please read the following T-BS before trying to erase immobilizer code:

I think this is closer to 5th gen rav4. We won't be sure unless the whole process has been tried.

The first pass code, obtained by the 96 characters seed may let you erase the immobilizer code but for 2019 and above, you need to obtain another pass code with a different seed to register new smart keys.

So if one wants to try, better park cars in the front of dealer lots then give it a try :)

No I have not used it to program a 2019/2020 key fob. But there are most likely more sites/people that have figured out how to do this. I would call local locksmiths if I had to program a new fob. I did program a Prius v ebay bought virgin fob in 2013 and saved some $ that I refused to hand over to stealership. No seed codes were needed as I was just adding the new fob. Now I looks like you will always need a seed code for newer Toyota fob programming.

Just tested on my vehicle with V15.00.026 and it did display a seed code of 96 characters. I would think previous versions will work fine. I exited of course. I should do this to save $500 adding a spare key.

So, my conclusion is, using newer version of TechStream and an online pass-code service /purchasing a pass code calculator, registering smart keys should be doable although it is a little bit scarring since you have to erase "immobilizer code" first! If you failed after erasing immobilizer code, you won't be able to start your car. If the pass code is not correct, it won't let you erase the immobilizer code.

The OP said "seed code is not 96 chars" is a different issue. He did not say which version of TechStream, nor did he post other details. At least, based on my real test, it is 96 chars.

That is correct, as designed. See the page 18 and 19 of T-SB-0064-18. Only TIS dealer's accounts can get the 2nd passcode to continue. This is new to 2019/2020 version.

I had this on 2019 Toyota Avalon. I tried to register a new key using version 12 of techstream but I could not continue. There is a seed number (it is not 96 char) and a passcode you need to get and I do not know where can I get it. If anyone figures out, let us know.

Allright, folks; has there been any new development? I have exactly the same problem: RAV4 2021 and can not program key. The manual indicates that a new smart key could be programmed using an existing working smart key, but techstream has no option to do so, it presents me with "Input Seed Number on Server to retrieve a Pass-Code, then input the Pass-Code and then press Next".

I have an alluminium plate on one of the keys with a number, which dealer told me would allow them to program a new key even if all other keys are lost. I tried to use the number on the plate in lieu of pass-code number, but no success.

What are my options as far as key programming goes which does not involve going to a dealer?
