Allright, folks; has there been any new development? I have exactly the same problem: RAV4 2021 and can not program key. The manual indicates that a new smart key could be programmed using an existing working smart key, but techstream has no option to do so, it presents me with "Input Seed Number on Server to retrieve a Pass-Code, then input the Pass-Code and then press Next".

I have an alluminium plate on one of the keys with a number, which dealer told me would allow them to program a new key even if all other keys are lost. I tried to use the number on the plate in lieu of pass-code number, but no success.

What are my options as far as key programming goes which does not involve going to a dealer?

You can buy a tool, relatively cheap, KH100+ and make your own copies of the smart keys. All key lost possible too but requires 350$ yearly subscription

Still waiting for mine. will try tomorrow. here is the link for success for avalon 2020. there are two types of keys though. 0440b is for direct copy and i believe 0410c for all keys lost situation,.

you got it. they said on the device description that 2021 Highlander require a pin, but others should / could be fine, hopefully. with all lost key situation if you have subscription you don't care about the pin.

On the same topic. Anyone found the way to get pass-code for seed on newer cars? this is 48 characters seed, not 96. I looked around for some time and could not find anything.

Hi. Reporting. Received the device and after registration and binding process it said cannot copy my key. So i was upset a bit . Than i tried to upgrade firmware and it said copyable. Tried 2 cars, 2020 highlander and 2019 rx450h. Need to buy a pcb though, 0440b. Device came with 3 remotes and 1 smart key, but it's not compatible with 8a chip.

Now that I'm thinking of it, one drawback of having smart key copied instead of properly programmed is of course if it's copy is stolen, you can't disable it, as it will disable both... But still, great option. Thanks for the feedback!

At least not for free. In 2025 and still trying to figure out how to add a key fob to my 21 Rav4...
