I think you searched in just the 4.5 forum which is too new to have very many references to Techstream, I got 10 pages of Techstream hits searching all forums, but there are hundreds of discussions on it, here's one with 460 posts in the 4.3 forum. I don't recollect anyone else running Techstream on their '19, for one thing there are no '19 custom settings in any version prior to V13.30.018, I've tried them, the latest version was only available as download, most on ebay, and best I can tell the only XHorse interface firmware version that I used that worked with it is 2.0.4, these are cloned versions of Techstream and the XHorse cable interface, the real Toyota Techstream costs nearly $2000. Mine is the latest v15 using a cheap knock off USB to obd cable. I got my codes from garageforums.com (google it).

 

So I messed around in Techstream and I was blown away at what I can do with the software and the information it gives. I did many things ranging from testing the fuel injection system by switching from port and direct injection, to fixing a malfunctioning parking brake, to the grill shutters, and even activating hidden features like using the remote to roll down all the windows. All of this is just from the second to latest version of Techstream, I think it's V15.26 as of this date and a VCI cable from Amazon. I wouldn't recommend getting the cheap VCI cable because I cannot for the life of me get the drivers to work on a 64 bit copy of Windows. I had to use a 32 bit version. I'd recommend getting a Mongoose cable because that's what Toyota recommend and uses at the dealer, I think it's easier to get the drivers to cooperate with a 64 bit computer. Ask me any questions, about it because I've played around with a few things on Techsteam with the 2019 RAV4.

 

Not sure why you can't get it to work on Win 10 64bit with the cheap cable. You just need to install vthe drivers Different. That's what most people here use.

I have heard of a few that couldn't get it to work on Win 10. Just don't know why that is.

 

Maybe I'm incompetent but I tired and tried and tried and tried. Many viruses later, I just decided to wipe my PC and create a dedicated 32 bit virtual machine to run Techstream in.

 

As long as you got it working that's all that really matters. Like I said there have been vs few other people who had the same problem. I just do know why.

It's still va great program to have. It really comes in handy

 

Oh yes I love it. I was blown away at all the information I can get out of it and all the things I can manipulate. It was a real life saver when I unplugged the centre console controls and started the car which triggered a fault code with the electric parking brake. If I didn't have Techstream, I would have been screwed. 😅

 

Can someone fill me in on how legit the available software is ? Is this 'real' Toyota Techstream code or a clone or a pirated version or ?? And also, what functionality does it provide? I'll search around but I'm specifically interested in using it on a 2021 Prime.

 

Those cheaper versions from Ebay/Amazon, etc. are pirated versions. From software stand point, they replaced some modules to bypass the authentication, such as using a loader or starter.

However, for personal usage on your own vehicles, perhaps, it won't cause troubles (I am not sure about this). The functionalities are very limited since you cannot go online or connect to Toyota servers, and most likely you are using a clone version of mini-VCI interface that has very limited capabilities in term of communicating with the vehicles. For instance, for 5th RAV4, you can't register a TPWS sensor.

That said, you can still use TechStream to read/erase code, customize settings, do brake works, DCM software update and etc. I find it useful especially for that small amount of cost.

So, I am in need of Techstream to erase a "permanent" error (Service Required; see dealer). My ODBII dongle erased the codes but the popup is still there. Being in the software industry I would like a proper licensed version (preferred a day or couple day license). While 70 or 100 would seem expensive for a day or two...its not.

Depending on what kind of "POP UP" notification you have you may be able to delete it with just the steering wheel buttons and MID menu. Here is how to delete the Pop Up you get when you disconnect the hood latch wire to disable the auto start/stop. It may be helpful to you.

 

So this is operator error. I had TWO different "messages". I did clear out the existing issue (DCM crap). However I didnt clear out the "OIC" message. bonk

So no errors, no warning...all codes clear. OCD is happy.

 

I want to use tech stream to program my remote and possibly the transponder. I biought the mini - VCI j2534 cable from Amazon. Downloaded the software. Autokent I believe it was. Was able to boot it up but have not had the time to see if it actually works. People keep saying to shut down the firewall. I do not know. Will see in the next few weeks.

You can just turn off your Wi-Fi if you're worried about it. Or put it on an old laptop ( many people have one hanging around)and use it only for techstream.

 

The people who already have Tech Stream says that the program will erase itself if the firewall is up. I have turned of wifi by putting it in airplane mode. I do not know what will happen. I've had techstream for over 6 years and it never uninstalled by itself. Not sure who told you that
