Got an email from my dealer today that my Rav4 Prime will be built on April 26.
What kind of timeline from build date to shipping and then arriving at the dealership have people seen?

Thanks!

You can look up both the temporary and then real vin on Toyota’s website. It won’t tell you much beyond the month it was ordered and when it actually gets sold. And of course stuff like the options.
I’m not sure when the actual vin is assigned. I thought it was after the vehicle is made but the last few vins I’ve gotten from dealerships must be before it’s actually made as they were ordered last month and aren’t expected till the end of may/early June.

Hi Guys, How are you guys ordering a Rav4 Prime. I put deposit with one dealer, but from what he said, he has just written my name on his list. he will call me as they get vehicles allotted and my name in the list appears on the top.
I’m guessing the “order” date is either when the dealership requests it or Toyota allotted it. As far as I know Toyota isn’t taking any specific orders on them from customers. So what your dealership is saying is correct.

Your sales drone at the dealership where you've placed your order can log into his account at Toyota's "DEALER DAILY" and track your unit.

That'll take all the guess work out of it. He can give you shipping, eta, etc.

That's a screen cap of my unit from Japan. He had told me when it rolled off the line and given me the projected vessel departure date. With that information, I checked the port arrival schedule in Portland, worked backward, and stalked my RAV4 as it crossed the Pacific.

My ship date is also late April. Probably same mfg. schedule and shipping schedule. My contacts told me car could be ready for shipping as early as April 20 but probably nearer to 4/26. I also have a temp VIN #. I was told that permanent VIN would be issued when car is ready for shipping. I am expecting East Coast arrival late May and ready for delivery to me around Memorial Day or first week of June. That is if there are no delays, earthquakes etc. It is, what it is, I guess! Good Luck.

Denofel, here's the timeline for my Prime:

1-27 Ship "Cetus Leader" departed Toyohashi
2-22 at JAX
2-22 departed JAX for NYC
2-24 arrived PONY 10:23 pm
3-2-21 still A-status (still at the port).
3-8 Vehicle in "F" status (Freight status, meaning "on the truck")
3-12-21 Truck left PONY
3-15-21 Arrived at MA dealer; dealer overnighted Certificate of Origin to me
3-16-21 Received Cert of Orig
3-17-21 Obtained TN title, registration, Plate at local TN DMV
3-18-21 Flew one-way TN to MA, plate in-hand; drove ½ way back to TN
3-19-21 Completed drive to TN (1,000 mi total)

I recommend that before April 26 you check the Toyohashi port daily to see which vehicle carriers are there. This should help you confirm the name of your ship. (Today, 4-8-21, Andromeda Leader is in port.)
Then, track it (for free) to the US using marinetraffic. Here's a link for Toyohashi:

Denofel, here's the pier to watch for your Prime arrival near Terminal 4, Portland:

Here was my timeline:
12/27/2020 - ordered from dealer
1/26/2021 - build production completed (Japan)
2/3/2021 - vessel departure (Japan)
3/5/2021 - vessel arrival (US)
3/16/2021 - dealer arrival (western NY)

Based on my timeline I'd estimate the arrival of your Prime to be the week of 6/21 as long as microchip shortages or Suez Canal blockages don't rain on your parade.

Units produced in Japan destined for the east coast of the States would arrive at a Pacific Rim (west coast) Port, come off the RoRo (roll-on-roll-off) Ship and then onto railcar for the cross-country transit, then auto carrier truck for the final leg.

This is totally false. Those of us that bought in the East know differently since we tracked our cars from Toyohashi to our dealers. Please don't post such phony information.

c7aea: Yes, vehicle carriers arrive at Balboa Panama to wait until they are allowed to enter the canal. There's always a bunch of ships waiting at anchor as shown in this link:
