Looking good in general, but RAV4 hasn't done so well.

Electrified vehicles grew by 30%+ and now are at almost 50%:

I share your concern about the 2026 RAV sales crashing, but not because of its hybrid powertrain specifically. For the most part the US market has bought into the Toyota hybrids' value proposition: Better efficiency, better driving dynamics, and better resale value at approx. 10% extra out-the-door cost.

Instead, I am worried about the apparent decline in the overall manufacturing quality that in recent years resulted in the very noisy recalls of V6 Tundra engines, 8-speed Tacoma automatic transmissions, and (again) Tacoma rear axles. IIRC, these defects were caused by the manufacturing debris, left inside the assembly, and improperly torqued bolts.

Total 2025 US RAV4 sales=239,451. 2025 RAV4 Hybrid sales=95,813. Therefore 2025 RAV4 GAS MODEL sales=143,638!!! What braniac genius at Toyota decided to discontinue gas model RAV production in 2026 for the new 6th generation which will be hybrid only? ....
Well in my case their 'hybrid only' announcement and changes in interior/ext styling was what pushed me to buy a '25.

I usually drive the local dealer lot every Sunday and it's always thin. Rarely see a RAV and if you do I bet it's spoken for unless its a gas version. Even Tundras and Tacos are thin.
Same here. If it's on the lot it's because the owner hasn't picked it up yet (or it's 1-2 year old used selling for almost new $). They are pretty much being sold before being built, much less even getting to the 'transit' phase. Even scarcer - Prius. Maybe 1 on the lot in the last 6 months. Regularly do see a few Tundras though.

I'm in upstate NY and no different here. I swung by our local dealership yesterday to pick up some rubber inserts for the wiper blades. They are massively expanding the service area so they must be servicing many vehicles but absolutely no new Ravs of any kind on the lot with a few Tacos and Tundras. I walked through the showroom hoping to sit in one of the new gen6 4-Runners but they are even scarcer. Apparently there is a quality control hold at the ports for these.

As of now, my local dealers have a number of hybrids in transit and in build phase. The breakdown between Kentucky and Japan is around 60/40. Currently the latest availability for Japan built vehicles is mid August. Latest availability for Kentucky is mid September. I am not seeing any Canada built hybrids on local dealer in transit/build phase inventory.
Not unusual, since Canada has not been a big supplier for my area for a few years.

Around here it’s the same. 60/40 J/4T Vins. The only 2T are a few of the ICE only. I don’t see anything with an anticipated arrival past 9-15-25. Both J and 4T Vins. I see around 10 HEV and 13 ICE without sale pending. That’s a high number for my area. The absence of 2T’s is very unusual for my area.

There are deals to be made if you’re in the market For a 2025.

Some might call what you describe as a classic example of "Bait and Switch" or just part of the car sales games.

I guess I am just a PITA car shopper. I have no patience with car salespeople that lie to me, waste my time and play games.

I was lucky to find two different dealers I purchased my 2002 & 2023 from that were simple straight forward and mostly tBS free. Although, the finance guy on the 2022 did try to pull a BS stunt on me at time of pickup which I called him on. In the end, they got their sales and I got the vehicles I wanted at the price I wanted. WIN-WIN.

Dealers are disasters. My brother in law just last week purchased a Lexus RX 350h. The lies, deception and incompetence abounds. When you're from out of town, websites are pure fiction and when you get someone on the phone it's nothing but lies. I went through this in 21 when we got our first RAV4 hybrid and it seems like nothing has changed. Shopping locally and verifying that what's on the ground is truly available is the least painful I find. I haven't seen a RAV of any type on the lot for forever despite the fact that a local dealer advertises $1,250 off. They don't specify if it applies to hybrids. That's the one problem with Toyota, if I totaled a RAV today, I wouldn't be able to buy another new one today despite it being the best selling car. The cars seem good so looks like I'll have to put up with the dealer nonsense because the days of rows of inventory are over, probablhy forever.

Looking good in general, but RAV4 hasn't done so well.
I agree with many comments, my purchase in April was based on my decades with Toyota, and a bit of the early concept/sneak peaks of the exterior design, as I am not a fan of the grill on new Camrys, etc. I like many would probably go with the `26 Woodland if something happens to ~25, but it doesn't grab me yet. Never liked the Lexus grills from past decade, and has not grown on me either. I did consider the Crown Signia briefly but rear height and grill design brought me back to RAV4, also looked at Land Cruiser. extra $20K and more room than I needed nix'd that.
The 5-10% decline doesn't seem unreasonable given last model year & assumption factories are planning to use up unique to Gen 5 parts from inventory. What I think is unusual is the PHEV decline at ~30%, I discounted one only because it was $10K+ premium over HEV, with the low miles I drive, I could buy gas for 10yrs.
I just hope the quality will afford me same as previous where I could keep it as long as I like it, not because of major repairs.

Curious, I went to process I used to find "J" car in April, inventory shows for LA, and 20 mile radius (10 dealers for me) 99+ un-allocated after I filter down to just XLE, 67 Premiums, they don't show how many over 100 for rest. The latest delivery is 10/1/25 from Japan, which looks like 75% of my area, not unexpected since this is port entry & the huge amount per RORO. Guess maybe no `26 HEV's from Japan? Working late into September makes me think they are using up all Gen 5 stock.
