I bought a 2023 RAV4 in November of 2022 and last week the multimedia screen stopped working. I was driving and the screen rebooted 3 times in 5 minutes and then the by the 4th time it turned off I was unable to turn it on. When the car is on reverse the monitor shows the backup camera and as soon as I put it in drive the screen goes black. At the same time the USB outlet doesn’t charge the phone as well. I sent the car to the dealership today and they did a reset and the screen started working, the dealer said that there is no guarantee the fix will last as a lot of people are reporting the same issue for this model and Toyota is working on a permanent software update. I started driving and the same happened, the screens rebooted 3 times and the 4th time it turned off, it didn’t turn on again. Is someone else having the same issues? Any updates from Toyota on when will they have a permanent software update for this issue? My dealer didn’t have an answer on this and they said it could take weeks to a year until Toyota comes with a software update. It is annoying driving a brand new car and the screen to not work, meaning no GPS, radio etc.

Same problem with the same car. I figured out that if you don’t bother trying to cancel (x out?) or hit the close button, you can bypass those messages by just touching your phone screen to the left of the message, and then it works. It was turning on and off while driving, but once I stopped interacting with the notifications when I start my car, it will work again until I restart the engine.

I bought my 2023 Toyota Rav4 xle Premium, February 8 of this year. Today at 2:45 pm, my multimedia screen started going off, on, off, on, repeatedly.
My week old 2024 prime is having issues also. Please update us.
Mine was having the same problem,
The earlier model year 5th generation RAVs before this new infotainment system would have similar black screen and continual off/on booting on some cars after disconnecting the battery cables for a 12V battery replacement. It was found that a simple procedure known as the REVERSE REBOOT would fix the issue. It worked on RAV4s, Highlanders and Camrys. Last I heard it worked on at least one '22 hybrid RAV. Maybe one of the people experiencing this issue on recently made RAVs could try it to see if it will also fix them. It takes 5 minutes and it won't hurt your car. You have nothing to lose by trying it and it may save you a trip to the dealer.

I also have a 2023 Rav-4 Hybrid XLE with JBL multimedia (technology pkg cost $2k extra). Ever since I opted out of Toyota’s WiFi subscription, the multimedia screen is not working it randomly shuts itself off and on. Dealer told me to upgrade my iOS. That didn’t work. Very frustrating and makes it hazardous to drive while keep resting the GPS.

Always a good idea to keep your phone updated. As for your issue, on your iPhone go into settings and make sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on. Then open each one and see what is connected. This can help you troubleshoot. If they aren't connected try clicking on each connection to see if they will connect.

My Rav4 (2023) was having the same problem. The touchscreen display would constantly turn off and turn back on every minute or so. Every now and again a message would pop up that says “Your session has expired”. I fixed the problem by entering my 6 digit passcode to re-login. Of course, I didn’t remember my passcode that I made when I first bought the car, so I went onto the Toyota app on my phone and changed the passcode. I then entered the newly made passcode on my car and since then the problem has been fixed.

Toyota knows these are a problem

mine is so dead it can't be recovered,
need new whole unit,
it's on backorder and no date when I can get a new one
in the meantime no GPS, no clock, no hand-free phone, no tunes....kinda blows

but I am happy the headunit replacement is super super easy ..one trim panel and 4 easy bolts. yoink

I have a 2021 RAV4 Limited Hybrid with JBL boxes. Everything worked fine until I left for a long vacation in Europe. When I got back, I started the car and the screen went black. It’s coming back but no app is working. No navigation, no radio, no nothing! I went with the car to the dealership and they couldn’t do anything: need to replace the whole unit, over $2100. Then I got in touch with Toyota HQ in US and after some difficult negotiations Toyota agreed to cover half the cost. I thought that from this moment on my issue would be resolved. Unfortunately, after two more weeks, I was informed that there’s no part such that in US, so the only solution was to take it out and send it to repair.
It looks like there are at least some 1,400 cases like this. This should trigger a recall for all models from Toyota. In my case, this defect happened after 34,000 miles, but I noticed in many cases that it is happening very soon after purchasing the car.
I am also considering talking with an attorney to open a case against Toyota USA.

My 2023 started doing it at 40,000 km. It started with just the radio cutting out, and logging me off the system with no way of re-entering my code. It wont resond to any touch (nav, settings, etc ). I booked an appointment at the dealer - with a 2 week wait! Ugh. Then one day it let me enter my code, and everything worked so I cancelled my appointment. 12 days later and it started doing it again . Nothing on the touch screen works. Tries to connect but can't. So frustrating!! I'm driving 20 out of town for the next 5 days with no radio nor navigation. They need to fix this glitch.
