Mine worked intermittently for a few weeks. Very frustrating. The dealership did a software update even though it was working that day. They said it's happening with lots of 2023 and they hope this solves it. So far so good, but it's only been a month.

I have my 2023 for over two weeks with 300 miles. I don’t have this issue, not yet anyway but I also have the JBL audio with 10.3 screen, if that makes a difference.
I had the same problem 3 times and made an appointment with to my dealer. After expressing my frustration that his computer could find nothing (and I had already driven it there with a black screen a week before without an appointment) the service manager got rather upset at me and yelled, “What DO you want me to replace? To his credit, however, he offered to call Toyota. This morning he calls me and tells me Toyota has had some problems with the instrument cluster and are replacing it. Call your dealer and have them call Toyota.

I bought a 2023 RAV4 in November of 2022 and last week the multimedia screen stopped working. I was driving and the screen rebooted 3 times in 5 minutes and then the by the 4th time it turned off I was unable to turn it on. When the car is on reverse the monitor shows the backup camera and as soon as I put it in drive the screen goes black. At the same time the USB outlet doesn’t charge the phone as well. I sent the car to the dealership today and they did a reset and the screen started working, the dealer said that there is no guarantee the fix will last as a lot of people are reporting the same issue for this model and Toyota is working on a permanent software update. I started driving and the same happened, the screens rebooted 3 times and the 4th time it turned off, it didn’t turn on again. Is someone else having the same issues? Any updates from Toyota on when will they have a permanent software update for this issue? My dealer didn’t have an answer on this and they said it could take weeks to a year until Toyota comes with a software update. It is annoying driving a brand new car and the screen to not work, meaning no GPS, radio etc.
that's correct annoying, I have the same issue, almost 6 month since I took the car to the dealership and still waiting .!

I have the exact same problem with my 2022 RAV. It occurred at around 44k miles. When I took it into our Toyota dealer the service rep said they have “seen a lot of these” same problems. He quoted me $1200 to replace it but said maybe Toyota will have a fix or recall in the future. I have chosen not to replace/fix it due to the cost and in the hopes it will be recalled. My theory is these were manufactured during the global chip shortage and it might have something to do with inferior hardware. I hope Toyota offers to replace or fix it at their cost. Otherwise it will be my last Toyota I buy.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear that. I would not be expect there will be a recall. AFAIK, no update has ever resolved this. Plus, unfortunately, your warranty for it is already expired. They tried the same nonsense with us until we contacted Toyota Consumer Care. They finally replaced ours but it was still under warranty.

The manufacturer of the faulty head units is Denso. Their products are used by a number of other brands as well. IIRC Subaru owners had a class action lawsuit for the same thing. So the problem isn’t solely with Toyota.

You have a few more options. One is to buy a used, known working head unit online or from a wrecking yard. It’s not that difficult to replace or you could have a stereo shop do it. Another is to buy an aftermarket unit. Crutchfield has a few good options. Again, DIY or buy one from a reputable shop and have it installed.

Otherwise you’ll be listening to “The Sounds of Silence” for a long time. ;)

Probably not what you wanted to hear but hope it helps a little.

I have a 2023 XLE that I took delivery on at the end of April. It's now the beginning of July and have about 1200 miles on it. The rebooting started happening yesterday. Today I drove it about 10 miles away and it worked fine, but on the drive home it started doing it again. It reached the point that it was off for a minute, then it would come on and then quickly turn off. Sometimes it would ask for a PIN. Once I tried to type a PIN in, but it shut off before I could type 3 or 4 numbers.

Of course, this is happening just before a busy weekend and then I'm going out of town for a week, so I really don't have time to get it to the dealership. I don't think they will be able to fix this, but at least I will document that I have this problem.

This is pretty damn frustrating. This car replaced my 2001 Rav4, which had two minor software glitches early on (revs would surge when cold, and a false error code) which were fixed by a TSB, but has otherwise been bulletproof for over 21 years. I was pretty happy to get my new Rav4 with the cool multifunction screen, but this is a major disappointment. When I bought my new Rav4, I thought about buying another brand, but decided to stick with Toyota. I've bought about 10 Toyotas over my life (starting with a pickup in 1986) for me and my family, and they have been very reliable from day one. I also paid a premium for a Toyota. Their quality is slipping!
Same with me, very loyal Toyota customer. Purchased new 2023 RAV 4 XLE. Same muti-media issues. I can't afford it, but I'm ready to trade it for a different foreign brand.
It is disheartening to have to lose so much money to trade, expecially since there is no guarantee that anything else will be better overall. --deep breath, big sigh--loud GRRRRRRRRRR
