I bought Toyota Rav4 just a month back and its multimedia screen is constantly rebooting after every 5-10 second.
Went to service center but they told this is new software and they haven't received any update.
I tried rebooting by pressing vol button but no help.

Any help how to hard reset or update software. their portal is asking for json file but I cannot retrieve.

Given the warranty your vehicle has, you should absolutely take it in.

OP, since you already did and they were no help, as long as they logged the complaint by making a Repair Order, I'd just do a good old fashioned reboot —disconnect the 12v battery for a few minutes.

These computers get glitchy just like a pc or phone that hasn’t been shut off in a long time. And almost nothing on a car truly shuts off unless the battery is disconnected.

Warning: this may reset other modules as well, such as transmission & engine adaptive strategy.

Have you tried the "Reverse Reboot". It has worked successfully for many people with exactly your issue on 5th generation RAVs. It may also work on your 2023.

Hi Joel,

It seems a bug in Toyota multimedia system in 2023 model.
I resolved the issue after I deleted my profile from the multimedia system and then re created it.

Since then I am not facing any issue some time I get a message failed to connect to wireless multimedia with mobile so I re pair again and its working good now. and haven't observed the booting issue till now.

I too just bought my Rav4 2023- back in February. The screen goes off and on its own. Also, when coming to a stop sign/light, the engine goes to "sleep" on its own (even when 'light' touch to the brake...). I took it to the dealership to get checked out and the guy said, I've never heard of that!

I was experiencing the same issue with the infotainment system going black and rebooting, and not allowing enough time for deleting profiles or much else. I tried the "Reverse Reboot" procedure several times, as well as the volume knob hold and reset, but nothing worked. Eventually I disconnected the negative lead from the 12V battery and left it alone for 2 hours. After reconnecting, the system booted up as normal, and has worked correctly ever since (been about a week). The profiles and bluetooth devices even stayed in the memory for me, so I did not have to recreate. All I lost was my Sirius XM preset stations, which is NBD. This was on a new 2023 Prime SE with 2500 miles.

Any new updates regarding this issue. I have the same issue. My RAV4 is only a month old with 500 miles. I experienced this issue a couple weeks ago and disconnected the battery and had no issue for 2 weeks. Yesterday, started happening again where screen kept rebooting and finally went dark. Had to disconnect the battery, started working again for about 15 minutes and started rebooting again. Did reverse reboot and then deleted profile. Nothing is working. Taking to the dealership tomorrow. This is completely unacceptable.

After trying to delete my profile through the multimedia screen in my 2023 RAV 4 for about an hour, I finally found the solution. As my screen would not stay on long enough like many others on this thread, I went into my Toyota app on my iPhone and clicked on the down arrow to view my vehicle info and clicked remove vehicle at the bottom of the pop up page. I was then able to start from scratch to re-add my vehicle using the QR code and my CarPlay works perfectly fine again.g Good luck!

I have toyota rav4 xle 2014 and its doing that radio rebooting thing. I went to my toyota app and delete my vehicle and than i turn on the car and add it back on and it still rebooting. What am I doing wrong here?
Hi, you doing nothing wrong there. Maybe you need to do again. Delete the profile completely with your APP TOYOTA (phone). Start your car and follow the instruction for to add or create an user. During creation the profile, the radio was rebooting or nothing ? Or only after completed created or add your user in your car profile ? For me, it's still working after deleted my profile 9th June.

Still not working, i deleted toyota app and reinstall and turn on my car and create different user name and the radio is still rebooting and turning off. Plus i just notice my usb connection isnt working. It won't let me delete my old username and information. I hate to call Toyota dealership. Sometimes they don't help

This problem started happening on my 2023 Rav4 XLE. It's two months old with about 1300 miles. I already have an appointment to take it to the dealer today. At the very least, I want it documented that I have this problem. I'm not confident that disconnecting the battery or deleting the profile is a long-term fix, and I don't really want to be doing that every month or two.
