The brake lights are turned on whenever the brakes are applied. On the hybrid, the brakes are often applied when the needed deceleration is greater than the regeneration capacity, such as going down a steep, long hill, or when the traction battery is full due to regeneration. The brakes lights no longer need just a foot on the brake pedal.After all, when using the HOLD feature when braking the brake lights remain lit after letting your foot off the pedal. 🤔
