“What is Toyota Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive?

There are any number of elements that make models like the 2016 Toyota RAV4 stand out from the competition and the availability of Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive is a definite highlight. Tailor-made for drivers who are looking for adventure, Dynamic Torque Control AWD is an innovative system that will improve performance and handling in all climates. Take a closer look at this innovative all-wheel drive system as we answer the question — what is Toyota Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive?
How Does Toyota Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive Work?
Available for the rejuvenated 2016 Toyota RAV4 and the family-friendly 2016 Toyota Highlander, the Dynamic Torque Control AWD system is an important asset for Bangor-area drivers. A sophisticated system that implements an arsenal of sensors to monitor and control traction, Dynamic Torque Control will upgrade performance and handling in all weather and road conditions. When winter arrives in 2016, all-wheel drive will go a long way towards providing peace of mind and driving confidence when you hit the road.

When operating in normal driving conditions, the Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive system will automatically revert to front-wheel drive in an effort to improve fuel-economy ratings. A litany of sensors integrated into the system will measure vehicle speed, steering speed and angle, throttle angle and more, and then adjust torque distribution through an electromagnetic coupling in the rear differential to provide unrivaled traction. Front to rear torque distribution can range from 100:0 to 50:0 based on driving experience.

Automatically shifting to all-wheel drive when you press the accelerator, Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive works to prevent a loss of traction to front wheels or regain traction when wheels begin to slip. Torque transfer to the rear wheels has been adapted for new driving modes to reduce the load on front tires, engaging the rear wheels when you corner. If loss of traction is detected, the system will then adjust, sending 50 percent of torque to the rear wheels and increasing lateral agility.

If you find yourself facing adverse conditions often, an AWD Lock button ensures torque distribution remains at a 50:50 ratio at speeds up to 25 mph. Drivers looking for more excitement will find that Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive has a significant impact on agility in Sport Mode as well. Regardless of the driving situation, the innovative Dynamic Torque Control AWD system has the capability to improve performance, handling and your overall driving experience.

If the Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Highlander are on your new car radar, you may want to consider adding Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive. A tremendous asset for Bangor-area drivers, the innovative Toyota all-wheel drive system is an excellent option to have when poor weather hits. If you had been asking — what is Toyota Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive — we hope that we have answered your questions.“

k7iou1, In post #2 don't you mean 2019 instead of 2016?

Didn't buy the Rav4 for its AWD system. The AWD performs poorly in some test on youtube. Toyota should've had Auto LSD on AWD models too.

The guy is an idiot. There is nothing scientific about his test. I can make any AWD fail with his test procedure and same tires. I live in the snow belt with hills and the RAV4 has been great! Sport mode for icy road conditions.

Introduced on the 2013 RAV4, Toyota Dynamic Torque Control AWD
"In normal driving conditions, the system operates like a standard front-wheel drive vehicle to conserve fuel.
Employing an electromagnetically controlled coupling in the rear differential, Dynamic Torque Control AWD continually monitors and controls torque transfer between front and rear wheels. Integrated sensors control the system by monitoring vehicle speed, steering speed and angle, throttle angle and yaw rate in order to actively control torque distribution to the rear wheels."

Dynamic Torque Control AWD
“The driveshaft is always spinning, even if the coupler isn't engaged, leading to some additional parasitic drag in the driveline. As equipped in the Camry, Toyota acknowledges a 3-mpg combined drop in EPA fuel economy testing due to the all-wheel-drive system.”
