We currently have an XLE premium that we have placed a deposit on. It is on a 30 day QC hold. We may have a chance to switch to a Limited that will be here soon.

My question is why would I want a limited when there is a x$6000 in price? What makes a Limited worth the price difference?

Yes, I really want opinions, good or not so good!

thanks!

Edited to add: the XLE premium has the premium grade weather package and Audio Plus package. Both are Blizzard Pearl. The XLE. Has black Softec. The Limited has lighter color Softtec (can’t remember the specific color name).

When I got my Limited the price difference between a loaded XLE premium and a base Limited which has everything that the loaded XLE premium has except for the rain sensing wiper was only $600. A bare bones Limited has just about everything that a loaded XLE premium has. The rain sensing wipers are more of an annoyance to me so the $600 for the two tone painted front and rear bumpers and more attractive instrument gauges/cluster was well worth it. The instrument cluster on the XLEs are really outdated for a modern car, they look like they came out of a 1990 Camry. I’m surprised the price difference is $6,000 now. At that much of a difference, no way.

Here are a couple of reason why I chose the Limited over the XLE:
  • Built-in Navigation ( I take trips to areas with spotty cell coverage so I didn't want to get lost)
  • Analog speedometer selection
  • The new AWD drive system which is unique to the Limited, Adventure and TRD
  • Ambient interior lighting
There's other things but I can't think of them now.

Oh yeah, birds-eye camera. That was the biggest decision. It really works well for parallel parking so you don't scrape your rims. It's also helpful to get parked straight in a parking spot. For some reason, I can never get this vehicle straight in a parking spot so I usually back into a spot so I can use the birds-eye or I can push the dash button to turn it on.

When I ordered my RAV4 back in May, I looked at all the trim levels, ending up with the XLE Premium Hybrid with the weather package. From what I remember, the main reasons were:
-price
-I don't care for the two tone paint
-Wanted the softex seats (not in non-premium trim)
-Didn't want the rear view camera mirror (have to refocus eyes)

I didn't get the advanced tech package because of the price
Wish I had: the bigger instrument panel screen, bigger radio screen.

After purchase, I added an auto dimming rear view mirror, and the ambient lighting (my car had the wiring in place already).

I bought the XLE premium because it had all the options I wanted. I personally wouldn't even notice or use any of the Limited options - but that's just me.

If the Limited had a power passenger seat, then for me I would have done it. How can it be Limited without both front seats power is beyond me?

Its the only way I think to get the pano sunroof, ventilated seats, or hands free liftgate - which I think are all part of Limited options packages not available as a premium option package.

If you were happy with your initial order then obviosly these things aren't a big deal. I wouldn't let them talk you into it.

As @JFox562 stated, one of the main differences is the torque vector AWD that comes in the limited. I assume this is a big deal if you need maximum traction similar to Subaru's system. Also, unless options in lower models have changed, I am not sure if you can get adaptive head lights in the Premium or the birds eye cameras.

I was looking at the Hybrid XLE Premium package with JBL and weather package. I believe the price difference from the Limited was around $3K. Reasons I chose the 22' hybrid limited with weather package is for the soft surface on top of the driver door where I rest my elbow. All other trims have hard plastic. Additionally, for the Limited 2022 you get a larger 9" infotainment screen, 7" digital cluster, ambient soft blue interior lighting, perforated heated and cooled seats, power passenger seat, exterior approach lights under the mirror, rear view camera, and usb c connections. I put a deposit on mine about 2 weeks ago and it is being built next week. If you can find a 22' model it has a new headlight design and led interior lighting.
