XLE doesn't have black roof or wheels or XSE badge among other things....

 

The seats, XLE only have fabric seats.

 

Xle premium has leather. The 2 tone paint is the main difference although many just wrap the roof

 

Biggest difference you can notice right away is the appearance. Two tone color on the XSE: Black wheels, black mirrors, black roof. XLE doesn't come with any of those.

 

We just bought a 2020 XSE hybrid model but on the bill of sale, it says "XLE/XSE"...

In my experience, some salespersons know very little about the cars they are selling. It doesn't surprise me that they just haphazardly wrote "XLE/XSE" on the BoS because they thought they were the same.

 

If you go to Toyota’s build page you can do a side by side comparison. Certain things are standard on the XSE that are optional or unavailable on the XLE. The XSE is a higher trim level than the XLE.

 

The black plastic molding around wheel wells are gloss black on XSE and matte black on XLE, and this is by far the easiest way to distinguish the two. XSE also has different suspension, on the 2020 MY they have blue struts where the XLE has black.

I have another question about the XSE model: Is a gas engine XSE available? --> I'm asking this because I see LEs, XLEs, and Limiteds with both type of engines (gas or hybrid) but I haven't seen a gas engine XSE yet... ⁉

XSE is a hybrid exclusive. I love seeing people say "I just got an XSE Hybrid", your pretty much just saying "I got a hybrid Hybrid".

 

No gasoline only XSE's.

 

The battery adds additional horsepower to the the gas engine that's why it's XSE only.
