I did notice a tiny bit of extra sluggishness on the freeway going with the bigger tires. The extra grip is noticeable specially when its raining. With the ecopia I sometimes experience slipping on wet pavement from getting off a stop light. With the new tires I have not yet seen that happen and its been raining here everyday. I was able to get up a snowy hill without any problems with the Geolandars. I got stuck on the same hill with the Ecopias. I go offroad sometimes when I need to get to a starting point when mountain biking was the main reason I got them. Originally I was going to get smaller wheels and new tires but when I found out this was going to fit I decided to go this route since it would be cheaper with just getting the tires. Also just a heads up if you want to wait... Falken is coming out with new A/T tires later this year specifically for the 2020 Rav4 TRD with specs that would fit our Rav4. If you want to check it out its called Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail
I am looking to get four of these to replace the Stock Michelin tires that are on my 2018 XLE. The salesperson at the dealer looked at me funny when I pointed to the Wildpeak A/T Trail that was on disply. LoL...

The Falkens that are on the 2020 Rav4 TRD only have a 360 treadwear. That tire is an OEM only tire and is not like the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail I have recently placed on my RAV4. I will have pics up soon-ish.

Looking for an update for those who have some mileage now on their 235/60R18 Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015.

I am in the market to replace my current Bridgestones (terrible) with the Geolandar or go with a Continental CrossContact LX25. The Continentals have better specs overall on Tire Rack than the Geolanders except of course for off roading.

Thanks for your input.

How many miles have you driven? Looking also for dry, wet and perhaps maybe snow performance.
They drive the SAME on dry and wet pavement. They have excellent traction. These are, in my opinion, an excellent year-round tire for my reckless highway and light offroading use. I tell friends that I am 'spoiled' to having excellent tires as I find myself having to drive the odd rental or a friend's vehicle now and then - and I feel like I am trying to ice skate on regular road tires.

I have not used this particular "Toyota set" on snow or ice yet...BUT I used this SAME model of Geolander tires on my former vehicle (2006 Hyundai Tucson 4WD) and I found the handling on snow and chunky, icy 'snow remants' was excellent. I drove roughly 60K miles on one set of these tires on the Tucson, and I replaced them earlier than most people would have done so - I travel a great deal and keep a good set of tires on my vehicles for safety.

HarborRide thanks for the update.

I had the Geolandar G015 (235/60R18) installed last Friday and drove them for 1 hr on the highway and they were fine for an A/T tire. The only thing that I have noticed is a bit of a hum but that is to be expected for an all terrain.

Last night, it rained here in the DMV and they were great in the highway rain and the puddles in the city were never a problem.

Fellas, I want to thank everyone that is posting their experiences, it has been helpful. Now, I need to pose a question to you more experienced RAV4 folk. My wife just picked up a 2017 XLE. I am looking at upgrading her tires to the Toyo Celsius based on our need for good snow AND rain...Now because I am a guy, I want to add on some wheels. So my question to the forum: 235/65R17 will fit on stock (in case the wheels are nixed by her LOL) or will 17x8 (offset at 30-35; not sure about pos pr neg) handle the 235/65R17 or 245/65R17 without any rubbing. I do appreciate any insight, we're excited about getting this little beast up and down Mt Hood, rainer, St Helens, and beyond.

Hello, I'm new to this group and new to the Rav4 world (not new to toyota) so be "gentle" on me, LOL

Was wondering how the much the D-Rated tires affect, MPG, rolling resistance and strain on the engine and drivetrain over the years? Seem like having a 50lb-60lb corner weight would put a huge amount of strain on the engine, transmission and other components and cause premature wear to some of the "lighter" components. Or am I smoking a big pile of donkey doodoo?

Within a week of installing BF Goodrich KO2s on my 2014 I hated my Rav4

Not only did it ride extremely rough and turn the interior into an echo chamber, but I could tell the transmission and braking system were struggling with the extra weight.

A milder AT with a good weight will be fine, but I don't recommend something so heavy duty.

Those tires were amazing the two times I took them offroad, but I was happy to sell them. They are best suited for a Jeep Wrangler or a pickup.

That’s kinda what I was thinking as well. What did you end up settling in for a tire? Most of the driving will be highway with the occasional forest service road to get to trailheads, lookouts, etc. I’m also looking at trying to shed some pounds on my wife’s 4R as well. We don’t tow anything heavy and we don’t load up heavy either. Would like a C-Rated tire for the 4R that’s a little lighter than the KO2’s we currently have but don’t want to cut corners on dependability....and because I’m OCD, I would like both rigs to have the same tire (obviously different rating), LOL! What’s your thoughts on SL vs C or LT?

After a long research and comparison on so many tire options, i personally went with nitto ridge grapplers its a hybrid tire for small/light truck, about 14lbs lighter than KO2 and very little road noise, big improvement off roading and at 90mph i dont feel much difference from stock ones. Gave my rav4 a tough look and an all terrain capability. Recommended

After running the KO2s I bought a set of Kumho Crugen HT51s. They are a good all around tire with a tread nearly identical to the Michelin LTX M/S. They are quiet and handle well in town, on the highway and in light offroad situations. They have a nice wide tread. Mine are P rated, in a 245/65/17. If you have snow in your area, they will be a good choice as well.

I previously ran Firestone Destination ATs which were great in all conditions minus snow (better than the Kumhos offroad) but I sold them when I bought my KO2s. I think the new version (the AT2) would be a great choice for an all around tire (they are light too and winter rated).

I would recommend a P rated tire for optimal comfort on the Rav4, regardless which tire you pick. My next set of tires will most likely be an AT for aesthetic reasons, but nothing like the KO2.

So just put these 225/65 r17 kao2's on today actually! They totally change the look and make it look super aggressive in my opinion. We will see how they ware. I drive 8n the mountains a lot with the snow. Really looking forward to trying these out in the snow!
