I'm wondering what's causing this. i have weather tech mats but the carpet below is saturated with water. i was reading about the ac drain line. but wouldn't that be more for the other side of the car?

any clues would be great. 2008 rav sport. v6

could it still be a clogged ac drain line ?

A clogged ac drain line would drip water in the passenger side footwell. When did you last get the windshield replaced? If it was not sealed properly it can leak down there and also harm your electronics. And it can take years for the seal to fail.

well its the original windshield. i peeled back the carpet and had a look. im wondering it its just snow and stuff im tracking into the car. but with weather tech mats i didnt think it would be the case. the weathern techs do have holes for the now slip clips. maybe the water is sloshing around and over whelming the raised clip holes.

its possible i guess. its been a snowly winter up here!

My A/C drain clog from several years ago showed up on both sides, so it can happen.

well its still coldish up here. i pulled back the Mat on the passenger side. its dry there.

i also notice the drain tube looks very dry. like dusty. i tried to unclog it with a small wire. that didn't do anything.

ill try some compressed air this afternoon. Maybe the line is frozen if there is water in there. its still minus 3c or so here.

if i run the defrost, how long before water should come out the tube if its not blocked? 10 mins or so?

Are you removing the drain line from the plenum under the dash? It exits the passenger compartment through the passenger floor and winds up in the undercarriage.(hope that makes sense!)
If removing it from the under dash plenum, just blow through the rubber tube to make sure it's clear and reconnect it. If you can locate the end under the car, I put a slightly smaller hose inside of it so you can blow through it and into the plenum. I do this as a routine item every year or so because I don't want to go through soaked carpets again!
I would agree that you should thoroughly warm up the car beforehand. In the summer, you will get water coming out in a minute or so, but in cold weather, I'm not sure how long it would take.
If you can blow through the hose and feel it's clear, then you'll have to take JBs advice and look at the possibility of a windshield leak. If you have a sunroof, that's another place to look.
At any rate, if the carpet is really soaked, then you'll have to remove the carpet and the insulation bats and dry them out thoroughly before replacing them. Otherwise mold!
Good luck.

I just found water under my drivers floor mat and lots of it. The passenger side just a tiny bit wet. I suspected the a/c drain was clogged and the video was helpful locating it. Under the car I could not see but I just reached in by feel and found it but the tube is very short. I used a thick wire and poke up the tube using just one hand and all the water came out. I am surprised it was clogged as none of my other cars that had a/c was ever clogged.

By the way I did not jack the car up or remove the tire. The a/c drain tube is behind the fender wheel well just slightly behind the cross-member.
