Hello,

I am facing an issue with my car, the bottom part of the touch screen is not responding, I hardly managed to add a new device, the delete-button's location as well, however the system settings button in the middle is working fine
not sure whether it's a software or hardware issue
Has anyone faced the same issue before ?

Thanks,

I work with touchscreens, and this feels like a calibration issue. Rare but it happens. That said, my 2018 clearly has a resistive touch screen not capacitive (think non-cell phone). Resistive screens get fussy on the edges. Try the very tip of your finger or a stylus of sorts. It may be that the bottom portion of the screen has failed.

I have no idea why a firmware re-install would help, but I can't speak for Toyota... worth a shot

Thanks for your help, it worked with a stylus, can't click on the whole button though, need to touch the lower portion of the bottom which was difficult with my finger
Thanks again!

Interesting, it's usually the edges that go first. FWIW, a resistive touchscreen is nothing more than a grid overlaying the visible screen. Touching anywhere on the screen generates an X and a Y location which the display processor converts to a button touch or something. It's usually something in the grid on the edges that causes this behavior. This is why you generally make buttons and what not as large as possible so that users won't notice. Using your stylus, you can test other buttons to see if their edges are accurate. If they are all off, then you have a calibration issue. If just one edge as you say, then it's likely starting to fail (or maybe a loose connector).

Glad to help.

I know itsa bit late but i just want an explanation where there isnt at least an update pushed out so you can use the butgons and vol etc if the touch screen fails its honestlt that easy of a fix but toyota is to greedy

No Cost, they changed it free of charge. I was hoping they may have changed it for the GPS one but after reading on here that it may be better just to use a TOMTOM rather than pay extra for the GPS/map version and i already had a good working TomTom, i have stuck with that. Not been an issue last two years as we have been and still are in state wide lockdown, where we cant go any more than 5k and we have curfews at 9pm to 5am .

I have a 2014 RAV, and I have to push below the button I want for that button to work. Does this on some screens, like the phone screen. I cannot remove a phone because the button is at the bottom of the screen. I cannot push below the button to make it work. I do not have a problem on other screens. Is this a calibration issue that can be fixed?

My daughter had this same problem with her 2014 Camry. There was no calibration screen that we could find. She took it to the dealership and they replaced the entire radio unit at no cost under her Toyota VSA warranty. They said it would have been over $1000 without warranty.

I did some research and decided my problem was the glass (digitizer) touch screen.
2 youtube videos, 1 to so how to remove the radio/info system (suprisingly simple) and 1 to show how to disassemble the unit, and I was set. Or so I thought.
Apparently there are at least 3 different screens that are used depending on the radio and manufacturer. I guessed wrong the first time and had to send it back. The difference for me was where the ribbon wire is located on the glass. It can be on the side, bottom middle or bottom left. Mine was bottom left, a little harder to find for me. Received the second replacement today, assembled and everything is working perfect. I can now pair my new phone to the car.
This helped with disassembling radio:
This helped removing the radio from the car:
The radio number mentioned in the removal video helped me find the correct replacement glass. If you have XM radio, there is another unit attached at the bottom. It doesnot need to be unplugged from the radio. As far as I could tell, the wire plugs would only fit the correct plugin.

Anki,

Sadly, I simply don't have the time to diagnose something like this. I suppose if mine breaks... or if I win the lottery. You've hijacked a touchscreen message with your problem which I suspect has nothing to do with the touchscreen. It looks like the unit has stalled on the splash page.

Maybe this would help: How to reset 2014 toyota corolla radio?

If you want to keep this tread going, it really needs to be off in a new thread.

I’m facing the exact same issue. It’s frustrating as hell

I have had this issue on my 2015 for the past year. I cannot delete a device and add a new one, as the bottom part of the screen is not registering my touch, as if it's below the screen. Any solutions out there?
Thanks.
